Nice little in-joke there. Heh.

Can't wait to play the game...but then, I can't wait to have my new PC delivered so that I can play the game.

THANK YOU ... I mean, I expected a bit quicker 'up take' on the JEDI KNIGHT FORUMS ?!?!?!

Can't wait to play the game...but then, I can't wait to have my new PC delivered so that I can play the game.Personally, I'd be more excited for FEAR - that game was really excellent, whereas Quake (at least the first hour or two I've played) is pretty good but not extraordinary.

Am I missing something besides the Raven part or is that it?

BTW: Its around Doom 3 level in requirements, right?

MIKE GUMMELT! ;)

When he was on the Jedi Academy team he gave a lot of help and listened to feedback from us in the community. Nice guy. ;)

The lighting is poor, but it even has a vague resemblance...

Yep - for those who don't know him, here is his
profile. (http://www.lucasforums.com/member.php?userid=12124) He was tons of information and help during the development and release period of JKII and JA.

As for the lighting, the game is dark so far - not like Doom III, but pretty dark. I thought I had a better screenshot, but the game isn't as friendly to task switching as something like FEAR.

The requirements are about the same as Doom III AFAIK, and performance similar.

The campers will be sure to picket the dev forums against this one, though, as they do for every single anti-camping feature:(.

Oh, I'm definitely excited for F.E.A.R. I've ordered both games...as well as CoD 2 of course.

Now I'm just playing the 'waiting' game until they all arrive. ;)

I'm more excited on F.E.A.R, though I fear it's sys reqs will force me to buy like, two years later or something. So... I'm looking forward to Call of Duty 2... and Unreal Tournament 2007.

I guess I'll have my new computer before I can play these games. And considering I've spent enough money upgrading my ancient rig to acceptable standards, that's not going to change for awhile!

Haha I don't think we will see those kind of system requirements in the next 3 years... unless I"m terribly, horribly, wrong.

Yep - Michael "ChangKhan" Gummelt, from Raven, a frequent contributor here.

Not the first time - anyone playing Elite Force would recall Beissman ... guess the name of the project lead for Quake IV ;)

I remember him! He had like a half-man half-tiger face avatar. And he routinely told me how to fix my JO/JA maps :p

Eh, I picked up on it, I was just more surprised to see the return of a pump shotty to the FPS world.

It's symbolic of the pressure he feels as a game developer, with all the budget limitations, the deadlines, corporate crap, whiny fans, etc.

It's not like Unreal Tournament 2007's requirements will be any less steep than Doom III or Quake IV. Right?

Anyway, that's a nice in-joke. It's actually pretty cool when you find out a major character is named after one of the game's developers. Even cooler to know they're a member of these boards and a very helpful contributor to us fans.

Half the charaters from ST: Voyager : Elite Force (those that wern't from the TV show) were named after members of the team, though I can't find my instruction book to prove it right now...

And as for the return of the pump action shot gun, why? does anyone actualy use them in real life any more? why not just use a semi auto. much easier.

Well the thing is, if it's using Unreal tech, it's probably going to be lower than the minimum requirements of the Doom3 engine.

Yes, inserting game developers into their games is a time honored tradition.

Anyone no clip through the wall below the deamon at the end of Doom II: Hell on earth?

Found the Big Heads's in Serious Sam?

Seen the Dopefish in Quake? (ok so that isn't quite the same but never mind).

Kurgan

Quake3 (with the patch) let you play as the developers themselves in all their nerdy glory. ;)

Jedi Knight had Sariss (or was that Tom Sarriss?).
