View Full Version : How can I make my own mods for the Xbox version?

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, and if this has been asked before. I read the tutorials and while I do understand a little, I wasn't sure if they would help much with the Xbox version. I know that HL is for the PC version of TSL but there are some people who frequent the forum that have managed to create some excellent mods for the Xbox version. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd like to make a mod too. Thanks. :) If it helps, this is what I want to implement:

-Duel of the Fates during battles -- it's the theme heard later in Episode 3 and in Episode 1 when Obi Wan and Qui Gonn face Darth Maul

-item properties

-if possible a change of story. How about something that takes place after TSL, with new areas and new characters? I don't think this can work, but I do know that it is possible to create custom modules (is that the right word?) for the PC version.

Hope I did that right.

Welcome to the forums :)

I think the only things that have a different format from the pc version are textures and models and the rest of the files are identical. Consequently, the tutorials should work for the xbox version.

We do have a few xbox modders around.

Thanks a bunch. :) But one thing that I don't quite understand is how to use Kotor Tool with the Xbox version. I'm sure I have the right build but when I open it it says there is an error with the chitin key file (which I have on the PC) and that reinstalling Kotor might fix it. I've read about this but could never find a response. Do I have to change the options?

So it works now. I didn't have the right folders on the computer. But now that I can view everything, I have a new question: Was there a lot of cut dialogue? I'm seeing stuff that I never saw in the game, and I've completed it over thirty times since it was released last year. Like this one here...

PC: I want to learn about lightsaber combat.

Then Kreia responds with something like this:

''We will leave that until we have a lightsaber... and a proper sparring partner.''

Is this something that was taken out due to the time constrictions or something that I may have missed? If it's content that was removed is there any way that I can put it back in the game? Thanks... I hope this doesn't count a bump. =P

Aww. I thought so. But what about putting it back in? Is there a guide for that out?

Just wondering what are the differences between the textures on pc and the xbox because i seemed to be getting alot of crashes on my xbox since i uploaded custom skins made from the pc version

Most mods made for the PC version will work on the Xbox, excluding the ones that make custom heads or anything similar. I think it's the .mdx and .mdl files -- for some reason they can't be used straight across. Someone more familiar with modding should be able to tell you more. Here are some mods that work on the Xbox:

-Bastila's Mod Pack
-Holo Droid Emitter (is that it?)
-Darth Nihilus Reskin
-Various PC Reskins
-Episode 3 Movie Style Robes

Maybe its because i have been using the High Defintion textures for my reskins and maybe the xbox just isnt powerfull enough to handle the HD textures

Probably. But save yourself some trouble and wait for Team Gizkas Restoration Project. I'm not sure if they are putting it back in but if its all there then they probably are.

You can check Stormsinger's website he has some xbox saves, including the droid factory (but it's in an unfinished state, just as it was left in the game.) http://home.alltel.net/jls31/
