View Full Version : Booted for team killing in SWBF2...are they crazy?!

I was playing on celebrity death match set up for 300 kills LATE tonite. Two guys on my team were booted for "team killing", (mind you freindly fire is off on this match) and another one was booted for "choking too much". Are these guys crazy, or just sore loosers? Two guys on the opposing team kept doing the same move over and over and over. Two guys playing as Ki-Adi-Mundi, standing on the roof, and spamming the force-pull hack and slash trick. Got old in a hurry.

Seriously though, how can you bitch about "team killing" on a team based multiplayer game?!?!

last night i started my server and some {axis} man was trying to boot somebody on the server for team killing and team kill was off nobody was talking to him so he probly hated my clan for some reason was he on that server because it might have been him again.

hk, I find your lack of periods disturbing. :xp:

This was a clear cut case of somebody booting somebody simply because they were not winning, and/or getting killed too many times in a row. Where in the rules is it against pulling off a team based kill? One sith on the right, one sith on the left....teamwork kills the Jedi. Why should somebody be booted for that? It's a team based game for cripe's sake! LA/Pandemic needs to do something about that force pull glitch too. It gets annoying when they do it over, and over, and over again. Especially when two guys are camping on a roof and pulling everyone up and slicing them in mid air. You don't even stand a chance unless you can force push your way out of a pull. And if they get pulled from behind...forget it.

Same thing happend to me the other night. I had just logged in to a server. HAD NOT EVEN SHOT ANYONE YET, and the next thing I know, I was booted fo teamkilling. Immature hosts can really hurt a game.

It is easy to kill your teammates in celebrity death match, so I understand. It isn't easy for a new hoster to know if its an accident in the game. Seing all those "bob killed bobby [TK]" messages, I think I might have booted him.

PoiuyWired
11-18-2005, 01:12 PM
Well, you won't boot them on his first TK, would you?

Even in FF=Off servers, 1-2 TK may be accidents(bad driving, nade splash accidents, etc).

People should lighten up a bit.

And if FF is ON and server did not advertise them in the name, the host iis a fricken N00b. Play on a real server!!

Actually most people perfers FF=OFF anyways.

You can boot for team killing even when FF is off? That's pretty silly, and a major oversight if true.

The "reason" is just that... a line of text. You could boot somebody because you didn't like them and claim it was "for team killing." They should just remove the option to use that one if FF is off.

Frankly I would have been fine with them removing Friendly Fire from this game entirely, or made no team damage the default option. It's far too often abused, and rarely "works" on the internet.

One time i tried to get into a celebrity death match and every time i would try to enter it would boot me. I've never been booted on that server before!

What is the force pull glitch?

Theres been alot of in game discussion on this. When a guy like Ki-Adi-Mundi does a force pull on you, he can hack you down with one or two slashes. People are undetermined if this is a glitch, or some sort of hidden rewards. At any rate, it's pretty annoying when the player is force pulling you and killing you with one or two saber slashes and your on full health.

And I want to clear something up. The team killing I refer too is two members on the same side teaming up to kill one opponent. Should that be wrong on a widespread multiplayer game like this one? The irony is that the same hosts were using the force pull "glitch" in sync to kill one opponent at a time. Talk about your double standards. :/

wow! that sounds bad, i don't usually have probs like that, i just jump to avoide pull, and when i'm close enough to them... GRIP SPAM!!!!!!! grip them, and then walk up to them, and BAM BAM BAM!!! bye bye...

Hello everyone

Some SWBFII servers are set to boot people automatically for high ping numbers. Then you might get a message saying - player 1 booted for team killing. We frequently run into the same problem ourselves when we schedule clan matches. As a matter a fact last night our server owner/administrator couldn't join his server (!!!) because the latter kept booting him.

Does auto-booting for high pings really tell users they are being booted for team killing?

This isn't exactly about the topic, but is related. When I played the Beta in September, and played a CTF match on Utapau, someone ended the game because nobody would score and before you'd get the point, someone would kill you. I found this annoying since I was doing so well. So, my pointing is the the host can boot everyone if they want to.

Jeezum Crow, why bother? 75% of the satisfaction I get on this game is the playing on line. I have mostly good days, and only occasional bad days. On the team we can start off with getting down to just one Command Post, but depending on team work, can still gain back command posts and win the match. AI is PRETTY good in this game, but does not hold a candle to live play. And you can't always get AI bots to do what needs to be done as quickly as human being does. Plus, I have a ball chatting with my team mates while i'm racking up my kill counts. :)

Fixed!

I kept getting booted in a bunch of games for team killing. also in a few CF games. after a while i got annoyed and quit playing. that was about 2 weeks ago. i would log in and before i could spawn i'd get booted. in CF i'd capture the flag a couple of times and i would get booted, granted i wasn't the only one but it was annoying.

Just don't team kill. Check your targets and your surrounding area before you fire. Watch out for frendlies coming around courners or doors when you throw your gernades. If you are carefull, you can make it through an intense game without any team kills.

Of course, that doesn't stop the people who boot others because they are winning or took a vehicle/flag that he or she wanted. Sometimes people accendently boot others. Its not too hard to select the wrong name.

Make sure you look up a player being booted before you vote to boot the player. Remember, not voting doesn't mean the player won't be booted. You have to vote 'no'. All you need to boot someone is two 'yes' votes and no 'no' votes.

From what I understand theres a bunch of noobs online booting anyone who's better than them, killed them, captured more cps than them or got the jedi when they wanted it. This is why I may not even go online, if people are weak that they have to boot everyone because it will raise their rank on the scoreboard they should be blocked from where they bull**** booted at.

Contact Lucasarts and ask them to set up a mod system so bull**** booters get banned on sight.

I actually thought about that today, that's a great idea. I don't worry about the weekly score boards, because I go up or down depending on what kind of a day I am having. Most of the time I am pretty consistent, and above average. Today it was a little lower, but I DID finally learn how to fly space craft, and I managed to perfect it one afternoon, so I am pretty proud of myself. I am no longer afraid to fly! :)

so has it gotten any better with the booting online? i haven't played it since then. and yes friendly fire was off. i wasn't having any problems in the rooms that friendly fire was on in.

and yes flying in the ships was a bit tricky but i got the hang of it too and it's a lot of fun

So you and another dude on your team killed another person on the other team together and they got mad?

One thing--I thought you could only boot people on your own team. (i.e. someone on your team deliberatly kills you so you boot him)

But besides that, if you only did it once, then that is OK, but it's kind of wrong if possibly the two of you were sitting there waiting for someone to come by so that you could take them out instantly--that would be very annoying--but it sound like you just by chance were both in the area and attacked at the same time--which isn't wrong--so yeah.

Kurgan

It sounds like the "team killing" option is always there. You could boot somebody for some totally unrelated reason (or no reason at all) and still use the "boot for teamkilling" option.

They should disable the option if Friendly Fire is off. I mean I guess technically you can still team kill with it off, if you use ingenious methods like blasting them off a platform on purpose, but still.

Since so many players are so anal about TKing in SWBF1 and SWBF2 (I hate that about both games), they probably figure that accusing you of TKing is a surefire way to justify your booting. I mean let's say somebody is beating them or "stealing their kills" or something related to petty jealousy... just accuse them of team killing as you boot them. Then people who aren't paying attention will think "good riddance" and not give it anymore thought.

It's sort of like accusing somebody of cheating or scripting in other FPS games we know (which I won't mention).

I know that they have the team vote kick option, but the deal is that the admin can boot anybody for any reason, or no reason at all. He's a dictator, like any other game. But features like this I think are just dishonest and confusing.

As for getting mad because two enemies ganged up on you? CRY ME A RIVER! GO HOME AND LEARN HOW TO BE A GOOD SPORT YOU WHINER!

Sheesh. Seriously. Picking off solo enemies or people who don't know how to use teamwork is PART OF THE GAME. Duh! Its the guy who got ganged up on's fault for not sticking with his pals for protection.

And if this guy wants to argue fairness, he should stick with his teammates, that's the whole point of those buffs. The game is designed for teamplay, period. No quarter or bonus should be given to people who try to subvert that and turn a team mode into a one vs. one duel! And if he wants to argue the movies, there are tons of instances of characters ganging up on enemies. It's a favorite tactic of the good guys in fact.

Seriously, these guys are noobs if they complain about that, and sore losers.

And that Leaderboards abuse thing is quite pathetic. These guys have serious self esteem issues if they feel the need to "cheat" by booting better players to avoid their rank decreasing. I knew that sore loser booting of better players was an epidemic in many games (which meant turning voting off was essential, though it wouldn't stop jerk admins from doing it), but this just makes me wish they would disable the LeaderBoards for internet play.
;P

Rant off...

I agree with this. If you go off and "do your own thing" your team will usually lose. Though sometimes if you get sniped you just have to find out who did it and pay them back. It's only fair.

Have they fixed the mics yet? That was another annoying this. Sometimes people would get on and say they were someone else while being annoying just to get random people booted. Or those that would spend the entire time sending boot requests.

can you tell I've had issues?

I'm on xbox mind you.

Fortunately, my issues have been pretty minimal. I had an issue last weekend where this young kid kept making random idiotic noises for no reason at all. It was annoying as all sin. The hard part about this game, is you can't really tell who is who, or else he would have been booted early on. One thing that pisses me off, is when the host ends the game just a few minutes before the match ends. Especially when your kicking some ass. No xbox game has come close to the online interface that Halo 2 has, but SWBF2 is pretty top notch. If there was a better way to define players in game, we could get them booted for behaving like a juvenile. :/ The only other thing that pisses me off is when some head case declares themself the ruler of a team, and starts to belittle his/her teamates for not following orders, in other words "you guys/girls are terrible, you all suck...blah blah blah." I will ALWAYS leave a match when that starts, because I have a low tolerance of poor sportsmanship, and over all craptastic behavior in multiplayer games. People like that, is the reason I stopped playing Halo 2. :/

I'm actually pretty good at this game. Maybe I just have more patience for SWBF2 n00bs than most people!:p It wouldn't matter if I captured 90% of the command posts, and had the highest kill count. I STILL hate poor sportsmanship in ANY game. :/

Tell me about it... Halo 2 has the worst community ever, or just Xbox Live in general. I've played Halo 2 and Battlefront 2 with XBconnect at a friend's house, and Halo 2 felt more fun with XBconnect. Almost no one has a mic, and things are just quiet. It's great, altough Battlefront 2 seemed to bug up when playing online.

Yeah, I've been running into so many little b*tches hosting that boot people for the most stupid reasons. Like Darth Groovy said, TK is off and when you team up with an allie and slaughter a few people they get pissed and boot you. Other trivial things like taking kills when someone is taking 10 minutes to hack and slash someone to death; I sweep in and end it quick w/ a saber charge. These winy people online that boot others b/c they're not playing fair is getting old. LIFE IS NOT FAIR, especially when you
suck at playing the game. Sorry thats my little rant for the month.

You can complain when it is intentional. On Conquest, following a guy who is shooting all the team mates in front of him and you watch and the only people he is killing is YOUR TEAM! That is obvious intentional. Also I got on board a troop transport that was full and this jerk named "adopt me!!" went the wrong way around our capital ship, then typed that he was going to ram the ship and kill us all. So he wasted about 2 minutes of our time, killed us, and laughed about it. Then proceeded to tell us how he likes to shoot down allies ships.

These jerks suck so bad at the game that they have to TK. To bad there isn't a way to mark these intentional TKs so they would be punished somehow.

Murf

Any number of people on one team killing anyone on another team is fair game. It is killing YOUR OWN TEAM MEMBER (intentionaly) that is insane. These jerks should be booted - they ruin the game for everyone.

I avoid random MP matches for this very reason, I learned my lesson in Jedi Knight - getting booted for being accused of cheating when I wasn't, now days I will only join games from friends or host games for my friends. People get mad and will make any excuse they can to justify their losing.
