Simple If you dump lasers Or shields you will gain quite a speed boost, enough for you to get away from anything, also you can come on so fast they didnt know what hit them
PLusa it goes 208 even when only lasers and shields are dumped (havent tried it with beam weapon) probably faster

All beam weapn energy makes it go to a something like 258. Easily the fastest ship in the game, nontheless, even w/out beam weapon energy.

BAH, if you need to use a T/D to run away, you shouldn't be flying it.

Typically if i ever am flying the T/D i will have lasers at +1 or +2 and shields at -2, lasers and ions linked with laser convergance off.

Um, running away from a determined SSD can be a good idea... er... o_o;;

Speed is not everything!
My personal strategy is have Lasers +1, Shields 0 and throttle at two thirds. That gives you a speed of 80-90 (which is enough to outrun most rebel & indy fighters anyway), plus giving youself the ability to out manoeuvre the nimblest of nimble craft (unlike the usual half system turn most often encountered when flying a TIE/D at full speed). There is nothing quite as satifying as looping up and over an A-Wing, bringing it nicely into your sights and splattering it all over the cosmos...well, nearly nothing http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/wink.gif
