I made a mod that, when you put it in a map you are making, you get more realistic turrets.


My ASCII Art got killed... :(

Version 1.1:

Heavily reduced fire rate of autoturrets.
Slightly reduced the damage of autoturrets.
Slightly reduced the fire rate of the main cannons.
Slightly reduced the AoE size of the main cannons.
Added frigate versions of all turrets (they dissappear when blown up).

Version 1:

Installation: Simply copy all non-copy files into your data_XXX/worlds/ODF folder. then, all shipturrets will fire lasers (red

for the moncal, green for the star destrtoyer). ***This does NOT do anything to the CW era, because they don't have these

turrets (normally). if you are making a CW fight and want the lasers, just use moncal turrets for the CIS and imp turrets for

the Venator (Republic). If you wish to make it apply to every space map made after installation date, put it in the main

data/worlds/ODF folder.

UnInstallation: Remove the words "Copy of" from all of the files that have it in the .zip file, or .rar file (Delete the others

first). Copy these into the same folder you installed it to to uninstall (data_XXX/worlds/ODF or data/worlds/ODF) However, the

Ion turrets will remain the same, because they were not in the original game :P. Just delete them from your map, and ignore them

Features: Turns those crapy beam-shipturrets into nice simulations of the shipturrets in the show and other games (that is,

really big autoturret bolts). It also adds Ion Turrets (located in the ODF folder under the name all_ionturretprop or

imp_ionturretprop). these do the same base damage as normal turrets except: 1. They are blue, 2. They do 3x damage on shields,

3. They do 0.2x damage to hull (turrets, hardpoints, etc.), 4. They do 0.6x damage to spacecraft that they accidentally hit.
Also, so that the big turrets do not seem to be to fast, I doubled the speed but halved the damage of the autoturrets.

Bugs: No major bugs known

Annoyances: The AoE of the explosion is larger that the particle effect... call it a "sonic wave" ;)
once someone is willing to donate a larger (preferably twice the autoturret size) explosion, I can resolve this
Also, the Ion Turret has no visible explosion: I hope to make one eventually

oooh snap!Thats the only bug,turrets mostly aim at eachother and at fighters and their realy easy to turn to space dust!

In this one,i had to put multiple frigates like 1 at the same spot as the other! Maybe advanced turbolasers for frigates would be nice

Im still playing that map,it rocks!

heh, for mine they like auto turrets. the problem is this: you aim for every building, or none of them. the reason they aim mostly for other turrets is that they are armed buildings, so they get priority. also, I did raise their health a bit... as for frigates, you will have to use the GCW frigate turrets, because I haven't worked with the CW yet in space, so their turrets do not have a frigate version (which is basically the same as the capital ship variant, except with a tiny bit les health, tiny bit higher refire rate, and it disappears when blown up).
