From what is supposedly a true signature by Tim Powers, he states, perhaps jokingly:

[On Stranger Tides is a] Novelization of a Disneyland ride! Cheers, Tim Powers

You can own the book that proves that he touched Ron Gilberts heart by writing an amazing book, and acknowledges PoTC: The Ride.

And if this post causes that book to be sold quite quickly, fear not! For On Stranger Tides has just recently gone into a new publishing by Babbage Press.

I've now read it, and it is utterly great. Perhaps a little too over-reliant on Voodoo magicks, but great fun and very piratey. The ghost-repelling root in particular was a definite Monkey Island thing!
