View Full Version : A word about the 'newby' concept

Air Juggernaut

I really hate when I enter the first time to any community and some guys call me newby. Or when many people call me newby because I haveīnt lot of SWCCG cards (?).
The same thing happen when I enter to any editing community, in this last the concept newby is real because I enter here and make a lot of question according to the things that I want to do and how I have to do it. Well many people often donīt ask the question because they say 'is a newby question', or thinks like 'I hate newbies' or 'newbies should die'.
I thinks that this guys forgot that in any time they was newbies too, they donīt born understanding how edit an OPT for example.
Who hates newbies hates his/her self.

AJ, I say I hate newbies because of how they post. I normally don't even go into the Editing forum.

Newbies are generally people with less than TEN posts. If some moron was calling you a newbie here, they were obviously to ignorant to look at your post count of 600+

I know, just making it clear.

I still consider myself a http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/owen/newbie.gif !!

I'm darn proud too!! I haven't been here that long, but... I think that Newbies get a bad rap just because they're brainless and have no idea what's going on half the time!!

I too often feel offended when someone makes fun of me because I'm a newbie. This is a lot worse on the Zone than here, but the same concept applies. I'm only a newbie because I just got XWA for this past Christmas. However, I've always wanted it since I knew it came out - and didn't want to pirate it. Anyway, I don't like being called a newbie because I have just been here for a while, but I know how to post, and what to post.

The thing is though, here we joke about it, "newbies" should come right back and joke and no problem, it makes for some funny threads. Also a low post count doesn't mean your a newbie it is a cobination of post count and time in the forums. If you don't like being called a Newbie, don't bring attention to yourself, most people will accept you if you just go with the flow of things around here. Only a few newbies ever really get us anger (aka Duke). Also in the begining it was said to Bash a Newbie only means you hate yourself not true, it is almost like an initiation, that continues because the ones how are no longer a newbie want to do it to the new people, nothing more nothing less.

I know why 'newbies' get harrassed here.

These guys are fighter pilots, and they're just accustomed to running interception on new ships entering the area.
