where does it start and what should I do about becoming a dark sider

When you are talking to Trask for the first time (KotOR 1) Instead of saying "Lets go find Bastila", you say "Screw that she can take care of herself." That would be a starting point for the DarkSide. So basically if you wish to keep away from the Darkside: say nice things to everyone and help people with their problems instead of killing them.

When you talk to Kreia should be the starting point for the darkside in Kotor2. Don't remember the dialoug, but you can threat her, and after you get a message you have taken the first step on a dark path or something.
