View Full Version : Force Dodge - Possible Bug

I wasn't quite sure where this would fall, as I don't really see any set "bug report" topic so I figured I would start a new topic.

-I was playing around with version .9a fighting some TABbots, getting my body parts strewn all over maps all across the galaxy when I saw something weird. One of the maps loaded, their were two different ones so I will start with the first one.

-If I remember correctly the first one was called industrial complex, it had swoop bikes in the map. The first issue I noticed was with it's laser cannon I think tagged something like imperial_swoop_laser or something of that sort. I noticed whenever I blasted a bot with it, they didn't block I think dodge may have kicked off but every bot I hit with it died within 4-5 shots. The real concern was when I rammed the bot while on the swoop. After it was hit, I saw the bot freeze in place and heard the dodge sound play constantly for at least 5-10 seconds per ram. As long as I didn't hit it again, it would sit there locked giving me ample time to turn around and hit him again causing the same effect. (Yes i was tired of losing to the bots so I kept doing it :) ) I noticed whenever they were forced to dodge again they would come out of it (getting hit with a blaster, lightsaber etc.)

-I tested it again on another map with a different kind of swoop bike. This one was on a map called Dark Forces Streets. I believe the tag for the swoop was swoop_mp or mp_swoop one or the other. This one had a different blaster on it which the bots did manage to deflect correctly so no issues there. When I tested ramming the same thing happened, this time I was able to ram constantly and the bot was unable to move at all it would get hit you would see the shield flash and then dodge would do the constant sound effect and freeze it in place.

-On a side note one other thing I noticed was a problem with the non-TAB bots with the new saber system. Whenever one uses saberthrow and their lightsaber hits the ground all they do is punch constantly, never retrieving their saber. This has a tendency to cause all other nearby bots to freeze in place and not move while the one bot ends up pummeling a wall for about five minutes. Doesn't lock them up all the time, but they usually get killed really, really fast and the kill count goes way up. Since some bots all they do is throw the lightsaber.
Probably not to big a deal since most people probably use the TABbots with OJP, but I had to end up switching back to the normal ones just to stand a chance while I attempt to figure out the new parry system. (Still very used to the point in direction and let auto-block takeover) Which is when I also noticed this little bot problem.

That is about all the information that I was able to get as far as testing goes, I hope the information helps, and great job on the project it has made a lightleap since I last was here to try it (v3-5 enhanced).

Hmmm, it sounds like the bots are trying to dodge the vehicle ram damage. I'll add that to the to-do list.

As for the saber drop issue, I've noticed that as well. I'm still not sure why the bots or NPCs don't immediately call their sabers back.

Why WOULDN'T Jedi be able to dodge vehicle ram damage? I mean, if they can evade shots from the rocket launcher by suddenly leaping up, it stands to reason they can pull the same stunt for a swoop.

No arguement there. I'm just going to be looking into why the Dodge is acting weird. :)
