1. what is your age? 19ish
2. what is your favorite song &/or band, and why? A Long December by Counting Crows (fav. band too). I'm not really sure why that song is my favorite, just something about it. CC are my fav. band because there's something about the dreariness of a lot of their songs that I relate to.
3. what is your favorite movie, and why? Shaft. Why: the good guys don't always HAVE to be good
4. what is the message you get from your fav. song/band (if there is one)? I wonder if there is...
5. what's the message you get from your fav. movie (if there is one)? the ends justify the means

Delighted to help.

1. Thirty-three. I still play with toys, though.

2. Deep Forest (a new age techno-synth group from France.) They've taken European modern music and integrated the native sounds of many different cultures. Their first album visits deepest Africa; then the second takes that sound to Eastern Europe where it integrates the gypsy-inspired music of Bulgaria and old Transylvania. The third album--and the most recent that I'm aware of--takes that melange of musical styles to the New World, where a number of Caribbean influences are worked in.

3. My favorite movie is Highlander. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/biggrin.gif

4. The message I get from the music of Deep Forest is that you never know when sharp-toothed Carribean gypsy pygmies might spring on you to startle you with strange but compelling music.

5. From Highlander I learn that it is important to have your sword with you at all times, in case some iron-age barbarian from the murky past comes to hack your head off in some twisted search for enlightenment.

6. My favorite book is the Bhagavad Gita.

7. The message I get from that is: go ahead and smack down the bad guys. They suck anyway. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/wink.gif

8. My favorite space cetacean is Wally.

9. The message I get from him is to periodically call the CIA and tell them that I'm watching them real carefully, just to take the element of surprise.

2. Steve Hackett is my favorite musician and my favorite song by him is Concert for Munich, which is just acoustic guitar and flute. It is so peaceful, ethereal but with a slightly majestic undertone, it makes me feel like I am walking through Versailles or some other palace.

2. what is your favorite song &/or band, and why
Queen, "Who wants to live forever" This is a band that can play many forms of music and do it well, Vocals are great (everyone has part) Bass Guitar is good, Lead Guitar is AWSOME, and the drummer has great skill. A bad taht will survie in my heart even with the loss of one of its members

3. what is your favorite movie, and why
Time Bandits, it is a funny british styled comedy that i loved as a kid, and still enjoy watching

4. what is the message you get from your fav. song/band (if there is one)
We all want to be immortal, jsut for one reason, and normally that is for someone's love

5. what's the message you get from your fav. movie (if there is one)

1) 17... 18 on Aug 1st.

2) Nitro(Youth Energy) by The Offspring

It managed to sum up my outlook on life in one phrase. Ironicaly, I got the nickname Nitro long before I ever heard that song.

3) The Matrix. It's so deep. I can watch it over and over again, and every time I notice something new... There are so many little things the average person doesn't notice.

4) "So if you understand me, and if you feel the same, then you will know what Nitro means... You'll live like there is no tomorrow." Nitro (Youth Energy) by The Offspring

5) It's amazing what the human brain can concieve. All the thought that went into that flim... The concept, the plot, the camera work (Bullet-Time comes to mind), the perfect casting, and all the religious ties. I can't begin to fathom how a lump of grey matter can power something as complex as the human body.

thank you guys SO MUCH for your help so far! http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/smile.gif i have one more question (and i already know some of your answers, but again believe it or not it's for a school assignment) :

what do you think of eminem's song stan?

Darth Sceltor
02-06-2001, 10:21 PM
1. what is your age: 16

2. what is your favorite song &/or band, and why: The Offspring, but I don't really have a favorite song. One that I can relate to right now is Elders.

3. what is your favorite movie, and why: Star Wars (There is no Why http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/wink.gif)

4. what is the message you get from your fav. song/band (if there is one): Be yourself and don't rely upon what other people think of you

5. what's the message you get from your fav. movie (if there is one): God (represented as The Force) is always there for you an will come to your aid, all you need to do is ask Him.

6. Stan? Well, It's not one of my favorite songs, and I don't like people killing each other, but it's only a song and people need to lighten up a little. I'm not going to drive my car off a bridge just because I heard a song.

1. 43
2. Desperado, by the Eagles. I like the music, and the words, especially the last phrase; "you'd better let somebody love you . before it's too late".
3. I have many favourite movies, depending on the genre. My favourite Sci-Fi movie is "Forbidden Planet" from the '50's, my favourite musical is "My Fair Lady", mt favourite western is "The Magnificent 7", my favourite action movie is "Enter the Dragon", but I think the best movie ever made, bar none, is "The 10 Commandments"
4. No one is an island. Everybody needs to open up to someone and have a shoulder to lean on.

favorite song? have to go with Leave you Far Behind by Lunatic Calm. sweet beat, and it's all top notch. Clubbed to Death is good, as is the classic Bohemian Rhaspody by Queen.

3. what is your favorite movie, and why
Dunno. The Matrix kicked heavy arse, and was very deep.

4. what is the message you get from your fav. song/band (if there is one)
Leave you Far Behind: Keep moving. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/wink.gif

CLubbed to Death: Pump out 'dem fphat beats. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/wink.gif

Bohemian Rhaspody: DOn't stop, LIVE. Fear and living a small life won't get you anywhere.

5. what's the message you get from your fav. movie (if there is one)
Not everything is what it seems. you need to observe carefully, and believe what YOU think.

2. what is your favorite song &/or band, and why With Arms Wide Open, Creed because of the message it conveys (see #4)
3. what is your favorite movie, and why Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; It's one of those movies where every nuance has some deeper meaning
4. what is the message you get from your fav. song/band (if there is one) The inspiration of creating a new life can change people. It's a way to absolve yourself of hate and begin loving again through a new heart that hasn't been tarnished by years of angst.
5. what's the message you get from your fav. movie (if there is one) Every person has nobility within them, regardless of where their station in life is.

3. Glory. I just love the storyline and the historical value.

http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/rolleyes.gif I think it's funny. Sorta. Worth a laugh or two, but not worth buying the CD.

As for Mr. Mathers' social point of view in general...I think he tries to shock his audience a little too hard. It might be humorous from time to time, but overall he goes way over the top with it. Unless he really is like that, in which case he should be sedated and kept in solitary confinement.

(3) DragonHeart ('cause I love dragons), Ever After (I'm a romantic at heart), and the next movie I see (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, if the Email I'm awaiting comes in).

1. what is your age

14, 15 in April.

2. what is your favorite song &/or band, and why

I don't really have a favourite song, just a random collection of about 200 mp3s off Napster. One song I really like is called 'Christe Eleison' (I'm not in any way religious, I just think it's a great song.) Found it while searching on Napster for an old classical piece, came with no artist name or any indication of who sang it.
As for bands, there are several that I like, but I'm quite into Savage Garden. Crash and Burn would have to be my favourite from them, followed closely by Affirmation, Hold Me, The Best Thing and The Animal Song. I'm also fond of several of Lene Marlin's songs.

3. what is your favorite movie, and why

Fave. Sci-Fi movies are, of course, Star Wars, with Star Trek First Contact following. Favourite overall movie is a toss-up between Star Wars and 'Alaska', one of the most moving films I've ever seen. And call me crazy, (which I am) but I quite like some of the animated Disney films as well.

4. what is the message you get from your fav. song/band (if there is one)

I don't really get a message from music, but it really inspires my writing.

5. what's the message you get from your fav. movie (if there is one)

George Lucas can pull off some seriously cool special effects. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/smile.gif

What do you think of eminem's song 'Stan'

IMHO, Eminem, and this 'song' (note inverted commas) in particular, are a disgrace to the word music.

Sorry Nute, but I'm a "character writer." When I write, the first thing I do is create characters, then drop them into situations.

Just looking around in here, I have:

Ka'al: A Norak bounty huntress. The best there is, she is her universe's equivalent to Boba Fett, but with a bit more personality. She's ruthless and cunning, and never abandons a hunt until the target is brought in. She eventually becomes a member of the first generation of Paladins (my universe's equivalent to the Jedi Knights, the Anla'Shok, and the Gundam Pilots).

Dekoh: "Scholar" of the Norak, mate to Ka'al and eventual father of Syan. By the time Syan becomes a pilot, Dekoh has become the "High Scholar" (leader-elect of the Norak people). His favourite hobby is learning new languages, despite his use of a translator implant. Unlike previous High Scholars, he leads from the front lines aboard the Alliance flagship Unity, and is responsable for combining the posts of High Scholar and Ambassador to the Alliance.

Syan: Daughter of Ka'al and Dekoh. She becomes an ace fighter pilot and leader of BloodHawk Squadron. Her hobby is stellar mechanics, and she's one of the best astronavigators in the Galactic Alliance.

Capris: A Harouna pit-fighter. The best fighter in the league's history, she's become too good to stay popular --no one will pay to see a fight they know she'll win. Her life as a pit-fighter has made her tough and adaptable, but she has a core of genuine compassion that she keeps well-hidden. Her turbocycle is customized to take as much punishment as she can (she's skidded it across gravel, ricocheted it off concrete dividers and sailed it off a cliff --it's only a little dented http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/cool.gif ).

Frethorik: A Bittarii soldier. Young and promising, he is determined to prove himself Worthy and ascend to the rank of Warrior. He will purge the universe of the Unworthy, and bask in the glory of the divinity.

Tas: A Technic (i.e., droid) scout, much-modified to survive in various environments. Drives a tank-like six-wheeled vehicle equipped with science gear and a few weapons. Suffers from incurable wander-lust, and is constantly driven to test her survival skills.

Kana: A Technic maintenance bot, several (Alliance Standard) decades old. Chief Engineer aboard the Seeker. Short-tempered and aggressive, she often thinks that she is the only really intelligent 'bot on the whole damn ship! Modified to carry extra diagnostic equipment (in her chest) and a chemical fire-extinguisher (in her right arm).

That's just some of the Sci-fi ones. Need I go on to fantasy? http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/cool.gif

Favorite Film: Got to be the Matrix - that is one of the all time greatest films around just like my dad showed me star wars i expect in 20 years to come ill be showing the matrix (1,2&3) to my son instead - well i hope also to show him star wars but that will be a bit old be then - what message did i get from it - that "realilty" is not real - no sorry im just getting carried away again - ummm im not to sure what i learned from it probably that a good film is a film you can watch over 30 times and still not get bored with it.

drumroll please...the results are in!

ok, the assignment was to pick a topic relevant to high-school age kids, and using a voice from their world (i.e. some music, a movie, sumthin from teevee, etc.) to prepare an outline for a *class discussion* on the subject as if i were teaching. so i used your guys' responses and stuff for the assignment.

here is THE MARK : 17/20 (thus 85% if my math skills donot fail me) http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/cwm/disturbed.gif
this means *we* collectively did a great job, 'mates http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/smile.gif

And since everyone is posting their multiple personalities, I will too...

Characters living in my head:
(only names, their explanations take too long)
Redwing (forums version)
Redwing (Trael Cean'R)
Cody Green
K'Warra
Termand Rwos
H'Lena
Cheetah
-others who aren't in my head now (resentful), too bad for them, they won't get listed
(I will post explanations if any one cares enough to ask for them http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/biggrin.gif )

Almost all of my close friends are girls. I'm not into sports or any other typically "guy" things, and most of the guys I've met IRL are jerks/jocks/losers/junkies (think every masculine TV stereotype).

I'm apparently one of those unlucky guys who makes a much better "friend" than I do a "boyfriend." http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/frown.gif

As a side effect of my best friend being a girl, I'm one of the few guys who can overhear one of "those" conversations and not get grossed-out (those of you who've hung out with girls'll know what I mean http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/wink.gif ).

And Redwing, one of your alter-egos is Cheetah?!?

From your age I'm assuming that it's not the same "«heetah!" who lives on RASSM, but either way, wierd. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/eek.gif

Me too, but I say http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/smile.gif

Cheetah is a minor alter ego of mine and I have never posted with her, so THAT Cheetah is not me.

If I were ever to post as Cheetah, "she" would have a look-at-me-and-you-die type style, but also be very insecure.

A personality is just a series of habitual responses and instincts, the perceiving element of which is at its furthest extension a tiny and isolated mote of the blinding totality which is God. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/wink.gif

That is my opinion on the matter, as the official forum mystic. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/biggrin.gif

Has anyone ever wondered how far that little set of hyperlinks called page numbers will go accross the screen? Or is it infinite?

I saw a theological discussion at JK.Net go to (I think) 34 pages before finally crashing. One of the forum members, fortunately, had the whole thing saved on floppies, so they were able to ressurect and archive it.
