Genre?

Hmmmm, I'm found of alot of music. Mostly techno stuff with girls singing though. I know it sounds gay, but damnit it's my favorite. Ace of Base, Jem, Natasha Bedingfield, and others. Lame....but the truth.

I'm not here to flame just wondering what kindof music you liked

I like rock, some soft rock, and maybe some country.

Rock- Drowning Pool, Saliva, Metallica, AC-DC, Kiss, And Some Queen.
Soft Rock- Foo Fighters
Country- Toby Keith

Yea, I like rock too. I recently got into Taproot, and I like Shinedown, Linkin Park, some Ac-Dc now and then and yea maybe some queen. Alot of older rock is better I think. Here in CT we only have one real rock radio station left. All others have been changed or gone out of buisness. And it's an independent station.

Hahah. It's better then Rap. I'm not sure why it's so popular here. Ohh I do live in the same town as 50 cent though. He bought Mike Tyson's old mansion that's only like 10 minute from my house. We went there once on Halloween and some guy yelled at us. Oh fiddy......

On a less serious note:
I wish I was a hippie. I would wear Tye-dye shirts ALL THE TIME!!!!!! And play Hacky sack and hug trees and stuff. I would even marry a tree. And have little tree kids. Little Sapplings. Named Bark and Woody. And we would live in the sky, in a environmentally friendly helicopter/blimp.

I'm sorry but I'm not a big "Nature/Animal" person.

I like Bird-Watching and stuff like that but I've got more important stuff than hugging a tree.

My computer is being crappy, so I didn't get any audio with it. But seeing all the stuff they do is pretty neat. My cousin was going to join the marines but a shoulder injury prevented him. I just watched a thing tonight about September 11, and it still is pretty intense. I don't really think Bush had the best intentions when he decided to invade Iraq, but I do think it's good that Saddam is finally gone.

Not that I can tell you about any of the genres I listen to. I can't list off band names or that type of thing. But I love all music so it's cool with me.

Since I started using the absolutely fabulous Last.fm (http://www.last.fm/user/dwishart/) in August 2005, my musical taste has taken this shape:

(Band / Plays)
1 The Doors 754
2 King Crimson 699
3 Jefferson Airplane 639
4 Grateful Dead 475
5 Hawkwind 379
6 Pink Floyd 334
7 Deep Purple 278
8 Black Sabbath 266
9 The Velvet Underground 179
10 Clint Bajakian 174

Clint Bajakian is only there because of the Grim Fandango soundtrack which I think is incredible, and it only has eight more song plays than Iron Butterfly, so he drops in and out of the top 10 all the time. Of course, this doesn't represent my entire taste in music either, but it's surprising to see that there's a difference between what I'd call my 'favourite bands' and the bands I actually listen to the most. Although, I'd have to say my top 3 is pretty much spot on, although not necessarily in that order.

Songs your choir SHOULD be singing.

Doctor martin's boots- Alexei Sayle
Jesus of Suburbia- Green Day
that song by the John Butler trio, you know, the one that goes: bu da bu ba na na, bu na na na etc,
American Pie.
Self Esteem- The Offspring.

There are many more...

I can't find songs on youtube for the ones we sing, but I'll write them out:

The Crawdad Song:

You get a line, I'll get a pole, honey *Clap* Honey, honey!
You get a line, I'll get a pole, babe *Clap* Honey- babe,
You get a line, I'll get a pole, we'll meet at the crawdad hole, Honey*Clap*-- babe of mine * clap clap clap*

(don't remember the second verse)

What will you do when the pond goes dry, Hoeny *Snap* Honey honey
What will you do when the pond goes dry, Babe *snap* Honey- babe,
What will you do when the pond goes dry, I'll fill it up with the tears I cry, Honey *snap*-- Babe of mine! Boo- hoo hoo!

I heard a duck say to a drake, Honey *Quack* Honey honey
I heard a duck say to a drake, Babe *Quack* Honey- Babe,
I heard a duck say to a drake, There's no crawdads in this lake, Honey *Quack*-- Babe of mine! *Quack quack quack*

And then a bunch of Crawdad chanting
Boys chant Craw- dad! like five times while the girls sing, 'Crawdad, crawdad, feelin' fine! Crawdad!' Til the end of the song.

I'll edit the rest later. Have to go.

This song is depressing, and yet, it tells how my dad and I are. I'd fully support them but the industry is full of crap. I'd only buy music if it was dirt f***in' cheap. Like if a CD were like 2 bucks. Though the only places you can find that cheap of music are those used stores. Rarely you can find new or fairly new stuff that cheap. The last time I bought a CD was at the beginning of this year. It was a John Denver Christmas CD I got new at Target for $2.50.

I'd get into the whole thing as to why the industry is full of crap but I just don't have the time to write a multi page essay on it. I'll save that for college work or actual work I'd get paid for.

Yeah the problem is that the music industry needs to start to adapt to the fact that you can download music for free.
I'd solve the "problem" with more Net Music stores, more Net Music advertising in outdoor places like big posters on buildings, buses etc. and make the songs cheaper of course. ;)
The way the music industry has evolved from LP's to CD's to mp3's is perfectly natural IMO.

Ha. you dumbass! check out the name of the thread.

@ Chase: You never mentioned supporting the actuall band. But yeah, I agree though, the music industry is such a load of ****. They've been ripping us off for years. And it's not like they're gonna stop. Just so you know, I buy a cd, and listen to ALL of the songs. Seriously, I buy an album 'cause I like the band or artist that makes it. gtg.

I actually liked some of their music. Sorta lame I know. The lesbain idea was cool, but they were both beat. So it was a moot point. But lesbains are always a plus.

Ace of Base, Jem, Natasha Bedingfield, Lacuna Coil, Lullacry, ladytron, Taproot, ATB, Evanessence, Xandria, Leaves Eyes, Holly Valance, Milk INC, anything that sounds good.

And Panic 't emo. Niether is Gorillaz.

Why isn't Panic emo?

None of their songs make anyone think "wow, it totally fits me. Now I gotta go slit my wrist and dye my hair an obviously fake black"

Panic really makes you think " Wow, does every song they do reference slutty women in some way?"

In Communist Russia, Cock sucks Fall Out Boy.
Yep, they seriously suck, everything they play is very -very- mediocre, and intensely unoriginal. And ... just... very ordinary.
Panic! at the Disco, Yeah, I can get down with them. They certainly have their own style and perogitive, I'll give them that. And they're half decent..
Neither of the two are emo.

In other related news, I went to my friend's gig earlier on tonight. Their band (Retribution) is one of the local bands that asked me to sing in them, but I really can't be bothered. Yeah, they were rather good. One of my best Chums is Lead singer. They performed The Saints Are Coming, Face Down, (Which they did a freakin awesome job of) and Self Esteem. They were cut short though as the venue was running out of time. There -was- going to be a longer line-up. But ah well.
