I was reading on the star wars wiki when I came across Captain Panaka's entry( He was the leader of the Naboo royal guard in Episode One - he had a fairly large role in the movie.) It only turns out that after the Battle of Naboo he passed info to Palpatine on Padme's and Anakin relationship,(which helped Palpatine turn Anakin to the dark side) and then became a Moff possily due to a hatred of aliens.

Your thoughts please

I read that too, but it could be false information. Wookieepedia/Wikipedia isn't the most reliable source for SW info.

The Chronilogical History of the Star Wars Galaxy book says that somebody gave the info to Palpatine, but I can't recall if it was Panaka or somebody else.

Ok, wikipedia article says that the Episode III visual guide says that Panaka told Palpatine of Anakins and Padmes marriage, and that he may have been a spy for the Emperor, and that he was killed by Vader.

A wikipedia article can hardly be used to prove or disprove another wikipedia article.

Well i can confirm it on page 20 of the Revenge of the sith visual dictionary in the data file section it says

"Captain Panaka, former head of security for Queen Amidala, gave Palpatine information regarding Anakin and Padmes's secret marriage"

Hmmm... does it mean that Panaka is also on the evil side?
What about the human supremist claim? any proof?

Personally I would understand why he would hate non-humans, I would do so too if I were to meet hero JarJar ever. I mean, everyone would want to se JarJar "become an hero", ipod or not ipod.

I can see why Panaka would hate Jar Jar. Jar Jar becomes big hero and politician and Panaka gets nothing, not even a cameo in Episode II or III. In the visual dictionary, did it mention his becoming a moff?

I doubt Panaka was bothered by Jar Jar becoming a politician, he was probably dispatched at some point after the purge due to the Empires humanocentrism anyway, and Panaka certainly wasn't aware of whether or not he appeared in episodes II or III.

His character just seemed rather moody and pale. No great loss. Ergo, he was a moody wanker.

MagnaGuard

He didn't seem moody to me.

No wait...he was moody in certain parts of the movie.

Silly. BUT, it would be perhaps the first time I've ever heard of a minor character from the movies being turned BAD, instead of a BAD minor character being turned "good" as is usually the pattern in the EU (oh, random background character #34? Jumped ship and joined the rebellion! The one next to him? Jedi Master!). The other trend is the "Boba Fett effect" that tries to turn the most insignificant bad guy into something with a complicated backstory and supposedly incredible abilities (see: the Royal Guards, that pale bald bounty hunter in Episode I, etc).

Still, always double check stuff on Wiki. Star Wars stuff on there is notoriously unreliable.

Still, I think this about makes him the coolest character in Episode I, ever!

But hold on, wasn't it Panaka that tried to go with Padme to Mustafar? How could he already be dead then?

that wasnt him. it was some other lovestruck n00b who wanted to pwn anakin for takin Padme :D

seriously tho, it was just some guy from Padme's bodyguard force. too young to be panaka.

agreed. It is against the Rules. You shouldn't post in Threads at least three to four months old. Anyway, just to correct you, Typho is Panaka's nephew, I believe.
