hey all...

sorry if my posts come across as spam to some..
i try to keep threads going and launch new ones, but tend to be thorough in covering the whole deal.

rest assured i'm not keeping up with posting this much, but i'll be an active member..

if you feel i'm not contributing in any sense, feel free to send a pm..

Just want to let you know that i don't find anything bad about your posts. Except that you're sometimes wrong :D

Havoc Stryphe
08-03-2001, 11:29 AM
Well Leon, I could honestly say that without your numerous posts, i would be kinda bored seeings how your the only other person on the boards when I do most of my posting! :D

Besides, you keep me honest, ;)

Tie Guy

Hmm, what time zone are you in?

Havoc Stryphe
08-03-2001, 11:55 AM
Eastern, I post at work around 7:30 am - noon, and just a smidge in the afternoon, that's when I have to do SOME work. ;)

Paragon_Leon
08-03-2001, 12:34 PM
Havoc, thanks...
it seems there was a complaint about spam. while i try to have something to say or i wouldn't post. right now have the time to go through all the threads, so i'm pretty thorough in answering them, and i guess that when people log in and see my name 40 times, they'll reckon i'm flooding the boards to up my rank.

thing is, i'm in here for the long run and won't post as much as i do now daily, but that's logical, because i'll have GB to play instead of typing this..
:D

Paragon_Leon I think your a spammer! You post nothing but nonsense! ;)
BTW I post at all hours. I have no life. ;) Except for this weekend (going camping!)

Darth_Rommel
08-03-2001, 12:42 PM
Well, you do post alot... ;)

Paragon_Leon
08-03-2001, 12:42 PM
Well Kvan, that's easily said... (i could say the same about you, but i won't.. ;) )
...now explain. if i look at my posts, 95 percent of the time i'm replying on topic, and with more than just a 'I Agree' or 'Yes' to simply squeeze in a quick post.

i don't know what the point of discussing is if you're not discussing, but then again, i think people are right if they feel a bit intimidated by the amount of posts..

Are you talking about me?!?

Paragon_Leon
08-03-2001, 12:49 PM
do you feel like i'm talking about you ? that might actually explain something... :D
well, just look at your posts. simple as that. then add them up and count the # of one-liners that simply add nothing of worth to the discussion or could be left out with no trouble at all.
that's when you find out if you are posting 'to post', or if you are posting to have an actual meaningful discussion here..

anyone can do that, so i suggest they look into that first.

Kvan
08-03-2001, 12:53 PM
Haha Rommel!
Leon gee you really analyzed your posts....

Darth_Rommel
08-03-2001, 12:54 PM
Oh come on... whats wrong with agreeing with people from time to time? :(

Paragon_Leon
08-03-2001, 01:00 PM
Those last three words are the key... 'from time to time..'
and yes, Kvan, i analyse my posts, because that's one thing i can't stand; if people simply accuse you of something while they do the same thing or even do it worse.

now this is something that will deal with itself eventually. i'm sure once the holidays are over, average posting a day will go down, but by then there will be stacks of forummers crowding these rooms, and they won't feel as intimidated or spammed then.

...my final thoughts on that... no hard feelings to anyone in particular...

Kvan
08-03-2001, 01:04 PM
Sounds like you need help, leon. If spamming bugs you that much :)
BTW Does anyone realize that these boards *are* going to be packed. And we were the first people to arrive here? We will be their gods!! :D

Darth_Rommel
08-03-2001, 01:07 PM
Yeah, I'll clean up my act when that happens! ;)

Paragon_Leon
08-03-2001, 01:07 PM
...not really, if all we do is post things like, "I agree" or simply summarize the previous answer in one line and post that with "Yes" in front of it.

watch the posts from the 'big' posters here, and you'll notice what i mean.

i would much rather be looked at as someone who has a huge interest in the game, than as someone who has the most posts.
if that would make me their 'god', so be it... :D

i reckon the moderators here and members like Gaber are a lot more deserving of that title.

Havoc Stryphe

Leon, my leige,

I pledge my fealty to you my lord :D

No, really Leon, I feel your posts are intelligent and have something to say that adds to the discussion. Your doing just fine! ;)

Dang...you guys are brutal. I'm just having fun taking peoples posts and blowing them out of porportion, that's all. I kiss no one's arse, thank you.......well...maybe my wife's (but that's just so I can stay on her good side) ;)

I'm am the epitomy of the Devil's advocate!

:D

Tie Guy
08-03-2001, 03:44 PM
Well, i've got a ton of posts, and i'm not asking for any praise.....just my own rank :D

And, if anyone thinks i'm spamming then tell me, but i really don't think i am. Most of what i say is on topic and intelligent. The rest is just chit-chat, which no message board can do without.

I'm not brutal, I'm savage. Get it right! :D
Really though I'm just having fun too. Don't take what I say too serious.

I haven't taken anything you've said seriously ;)

believe me, everything I've typed so far has been typed with a smile on my face. I'm enjoying the friendly atmosphere of this board, I sure hope that aspect remains after the game is released and thousands swarm to these boards! :(

Well we could just ignore the new people :) ?

Havoc Stryphe
08-03-2001, 03:54 PM
Hmmmmm...ignore them.....I like it. ;)

Nah, I'm to nice...I couldn't do that, well at least till they starting posting stupid stuff, then I'm not responsible for my actions :D

Tie Guy
08-03-2001, 04:15 PM
Yeah, new people usually have some ngood things to say, or at least some questions to answer, so i think that they can only be good for the board. I mean, who worried about being too popular, its the same with message boards i think. The more the merrier, right?

Kvan
08-03-2001, 04:17 PM
No, I say kick out everyone under 100 posts. :D

Paragon_Leon

Being 'new' to a board doesn't make one inferior in any - any!- way.. it could be that they just found out that the forums existed, but still are very valuable forummers.
people who'll simply post a lot and say absolutely nothing is a different story. but there's going to be both of those over time. that's almost a guarantee. let's deal with it as gracefully as we can and make people feel welcome, so that the boards grow quickly.

Gosh! Always so stern! Smile Leon, it doesn't hurt! :)

Paragon_Leon

:D :D :D :D :D :D

ouch, it did...

Hey, i like humor, mind you, but we're in the infant-stage with these boards and i really feel that people can be put off if you make them feel like it's a closed community already..

Btw, i have to be stern... it's my lot in life.. :p

Well ... somebody has to let the world know The Netherlands is still on this planet. With every post you make you remind people of that ... I do too ofcourse ... but not that much.

r those who have no clue where the Netherlands is ... East of the UK, West of Germany and North of Belguim)

But on the posting. I'd say scrap the whole thing. People don't have to know how much you've posted. If you're a regular, people will that (because they see you're name often)

Paragon_Leon
08-04-2001, 01:19 PM
That's a great point. But i think most people here tend to rather lik all those little stats and stuff.

Maybe it would be sufficient to just show the date you joined these boards.

Young David
08-04-2001, 04:47 PM
Yeah ... that's also a good idea. It's a good way to divide the newbies from the oldies ... and doesn't reward mass-posters

Paragon_Leon
08-04-2001, 05:06 PM
There you go...:D
I'll drop in a mail to the mods to see if it is possible and to ask what they think of it..

Tie Guy
08-04-2001, 06:46 PM
Hmm, i know where Holland is, but the Netherlands...... :D

Paragon_Leon
08-05-2001, 08:02 AM
Tie Guy, i visit the USA once a year for a conference, and any time i say 'Holland', people think I'm from Michigan.
So we stick with the Netherlands as sort of an idiot-proof way of explaining it.. :D

Young David
08-05-2001, 10:07 AM
And besides, Holland isn't the proper naming. Only two provinces in the west are Holland (South-Holland and North-Holland ... pretty clear, huh?). All the other 10 provinces the Netherlands has are not ... So it's even safe for me to say I don't live in Holland (Cause I live Overijsel) ... The Netherlands is my place.

Enough about The Netherlands ... I know a lot about already.

Paragon_Leon

Yes, better close this thread now since it's bound for off-topic anyway the way it's going... :D

Tie Guy
08-05-2001, 12:42 PM
Hmm, i don't know there was a Holland in Michigan. Anyways, i was just joking.

Now to get back on topic...what was it again? Actually, our last couple of posts seem like a prime example of "post overflow" :D

Oh well, nuff said on this thread.

Darth_Rommel

Anyays, where'd you get those last two, they look like there from the same set or whatever.

Darth_Rommel
