View Full Version : Merged: the 2006 reader polls

Gabez

Er, okay... I tried testing out a poll and it posted it without the questions and then when I tried to delete it, it left a note saying that I deleted it, which defeats the point of me deleting it in the first place, and it's left on there like a mysterious brown mark that appeared on my shirt the other week. Maybe no-one can see it, though; if so, don't read this paragraph.

I'm kinda sleepy now, but I know that if I leave this till the morning then I'll forget about it and I want to get it done this year. I'm reffering to some kind of reader award thing for the new year, which I've always meant to organise, but always forgotten about until several months into the new year. Anyway, here it is. I'll be posting four questions, and hopefully enough people will respond so that this doesn't embarass me. I'll try to merge the polls at the end. We'll see if it works.

Oh, and if you think of any good questions, or any voting options that aren't listed, post them in a reply. You can also cast your vote this way.

Wow. No Love for Dr Wolfgang Zoidberg. I was more partial to those stories highlighting the wisdom of Jim Ward though.

That's quite a sad collection of the more tedious news stories.... How about "Sam & Max Released?"

12-28-2006, 09:08 AM
Woo! I'm not on the list. Perhaps it's cause I don't update?

Gabez
12-28-2006, 09:31 AM
Hey, you updated twice this year, which is still two times more than Pedgey. You're on the list!

Gabez
12-28-2006, 09:31 AM
Good call. I'd forgotten that that was news this year.

Valkian
12-28-2006, 10:23 AM
Gee...I voted Sam & Max.....but now that I see Thrillvile in it's zero...I kinda wish I had voted it.

Anyway. What about..... THE BEST MOJO SITE OF 2006?

Gabez
12-28-2006, 10:29 AM
Since no sites were actually launched in 2006 (unless I'm forgetting something), this is instead a vote for the best active site of the year.

Valkian
12-28-2006, 10:38 AM
You wait for it for years and years....and then it's finally there and you hardly notice it. That's what happens isn't it? yeah, I thought so...

Anyway, I voted the most eventfull event of the year. The holy and enlightening savior Jim Ward who rescued LucasArts from the horrible possibilites of having new adventure games, as well as having beardless emloyees who wanted to make 2-D games! OH how disgusting the FORCES OF EVIL from which good ol' Jim Ward saved us.

I was facinated by Johnny Depp's quote, but then again I think the simplicity in "Tim is asked questions, answers them" is brilliant too.

I voted for Psychonauts on Steam. I'd love to see the numbers of Steam sales, but Valve never releases those, but I believe that Steam is just what it needed to get some more recognition.

Valkian
12-28-2006, 10:55 AM
Oh, the poll I proposed! wiii (If I use three "i"s then it's not owned by Nintendo)

I think it would be unethical to vote my very own and beloved The Dig Museum (although it wasn't THAT active in 2006 I think it was a bit more than most on the list) but YOU should.

Instead I voted Quick & Easy, I don't know who is behind that site or the magic tools developed by them. But they made quite a few this year, and I think those (or this) guys deserve a round of applause.

P.S: But don't forget WHO had the Exclusive Interviews to Michael Land and Bill Eaken... :)

Valkian
12-28-2006, 11:02 AM
Gee, I never posted so much in so short time. I don't even know If I'm suppoused to explain my votes, but for some reason it feels right.

I'm really looking forward on more news on Tim's new and magic game, and as Thrillville's number one fan I would be expected to vote for it's glorious sequel. But this time my love went to Bill Tiller's opera prima.

Gabez
12-28-2006, 11:07 AM
Yeah, I wanted to vote for Quick & Easy but unfortunately MJ has my children and keeps them hostage. But bgbennyboy has done some stirling work this year, and every year, so well done to him.

'Bad Brain Hemorrhages' is quite clearly the cleverest headline there. (Although I also liked 'Tim is asked questions, answers them' as well.)

Thanks, oh lovely Gabez.

If there was a GOLDEN MOJO AWARD OF 2006... I would vote YOU or to some SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT IN OVERALL MAGIC.

Anyway, I think all this polls an Mojo awards are truly great, I had the idea in the mid year of having Mojo Awards. But then I forgot to pitch it to any of the Mojo people. Thank god (or Jim Ward) we have Gabez!

I hope this sticks as a new Mojo annual tradition.

jp-30
12-28-2006, 06:29 PM
Heh. Bad Brain is good for comedic value. Everyone loves Telltale and Double Fine, so I may cast my vote to help encourage that loveable ol' Bill Tiller.

I so hope I'm playing Vampyre Story before 2007 is out.

jp-30

Wouldn't a games database Wiki be lovely...

Valkian
12-28-2006, 10:24 PM
I already voted A Vampyre Story on another category, so this time my vote went to the lovely people at Double Fine (how can you not love them?). Although I also love TellTale and Whatever is Ron doing (which would be a neat name for his company).

And one thing...shouldn't we include Screen 7 (creators of Indiana Jones And The Fountain of Youth) for the sake of indies (and copyright violation)?

Valkian
12-28-2006, 10:30 PM
I loved the "Indy month to conclude in February!" one.

I also sort of promised a Loom site + opening The Dig Museum's gallery + interviewing Spielberg... (you fools!)

I just wish I could vote for more than one...

Gabez
12-29-2006, 02:09 PM
That was an option when I posted the poll, but it would have contradicted the question if I'd had that. The best thing would be to have an order of likeliness, which people could do here, if they wanted.

Gabez
12-29-2006, 02:11 PM
Ah, you see, this Michael Jackson: it's popular culture, you know. I was born 50.

jp-30
12-29-2006, 03:22 PM
I vote for Ron's game. The Telltale option should probably be 'an original IP game from Telltale' as the next CSI is already under production.

The Tingler

I agree with jp-30. "A non-franchise original Telltale game" would be better.

Traxion's an original LucasArts game, as is Thrillville (yes, I know that's already out). If you mean one BY LucasArts, as in developed rather than published, fair enough.

Jake

I'm actually not Mr Manager. I'm pretty sure that's Remi. I have occasionally posted as A Pirate Yar and Jake, but not "MrManager."

I propose firing boojaka14m or whatever his name was.

Udvarnoky
12-29-2006, 08:38 PM
For the record I've never posted under anything other than Udvarnoky, though I always thought A Pirate! Yar! was just a name that any Mojo staffer randomly posted as for the hell of it. As for who started posting under A Pirate! Yar! who wasn't Jake, well, I'm not trying to imply anything but see if you can spot a similarity between this post (http://mixnmojo.com/php/news/showfile.php?category=telltale&id=2176) and this one (http://mixnmojo.com/php/news/showfile.php?category=telltale&id=2057) by a certain Remi.

(Though I suppose you could argue that the real perpetrator captured Remi's writing style in an elaborate effort to frame him!)
