see gurbrush dies, and then the game carries on with guybrush in the land of the dead, it`ll be like a grim fandango-monkey island mix. http://www.escapemi.com/forums/biggrin.gif

What's wrong with Guybrush dying? LeChuck has died at least 5 times... so I don't see why Guybrush can't die? (well, he has died a couple of times in CMI, though)

Guybrush won't be dying.
a) They already did the dying gimmick in MI3
b) A land of the dead scenario would be far too close to Grim Fandango... if they want to do that they'll just do a GF2.

Exactly guybrush should star in the next grim fandango!!!

no no no, we need to just kill him off, so that there can be room for a NEW adventure with a NEW character. all of the best games from LEC were original, i dont see why companies choose to stick to the same old thing year for year, its either lack of creativity or lust for money.

Sureley Guybrush can't die? Isn't the thing about LEC that the charactors can't die. (In mandys case i mean again?)

It's hardly necessary for Guybrush to die in order to launch an original franchise http://www.escapemi.com/forums/wink.gif
And I hope you're joking re: Guybrush being the star of Grim Fandango 2. That's a ridiculous idea.

yeah i know, i was joking, i should have put the sarcastic face in there, guybrush in the land of the dead would be Stupid and it just wouldn`t work.

and also newfoundglory u said u couldn't see why companies keep on making games with the same character and same scenarios. Companies (like lucasarts) do this because it is easier to market a game that already has a consumer base (ppl who bought CMI will likely buy EMI) If Lucasarts took a chance with another adventure game they might succed in making a good game but the chance that it won't sell as well as a 5th monkey island is what keeps them making monkey island games instead of other adventure games.

I think it would be better if LeChuck wanted a new body, and then Guybrush dies, and come to the otherworld. There he must find something so he can get back to hes body before LeChuck is getting that "thing".

I think that Guybrush should die.
The way he should die is while killing Lechuck, this being that true evil can only be destroyed by true good of the same preportion. Guybrush has to kill himself to kill Lechuck

Yeah sounds like the perfect ending for a lighthearted comic series which a surprising portion of people seem to think is a dark serious psychodrama.

Because he's even older than me, way back from the days when only 30 posts were required.

It is not essential that Guybrush dies, you just have to have one heck of a script writer to end a series the main character doesn't have to die to end the game thats just a weak excuse for a ending, though thats the only way Lucasarts could end the series. As long as Guybrush is alive so is LeChuck.
After finishing the monkey Island series Lucasarts could make a prequel called LeChuck where you are Lechuck doing all the stuff you have heard him doing, such as finding Big whoop, sinking H.T Marleys ship and other such adventures

However, i don't want Guybrush to die, he is one of the best characters from any game. He's not quite as good as cloud from FFVII though!

Guybrush dieing won't be good because it won't be comical or anything....I think that the bad guy(probably le chuck) should be killed using murray(without his aprooval..Here's an example:
Guybrush:sorry murray
Murray:hey, what the?
TOSS
Murray:AAAAAAAARGH
villian:Nooooooo
etc etc
Well i tought of it now so it is not very detailed.....
