What? An hour and a half into it and no thread?

:xp:

Who's watching it, and what are your thoughts so far?

Pan's Labyrinth is 2 for 2 with 4 left so far :D

Pretty nice thus far. I don't even know why I'm watching it at 5 am with a schoolday ahead of me, but I just am. By the way, Ellen is rocking the house :p

Also, I noticed I have completely lost the movie industry. Last movie I went to see was RotS. I need to get out more... >_>

No you don't. You haven't missed anything.

Meh, in that case, I'll just stay where I am and wait for a decent movie to appear from somewhere.

Lucas seemed amused of Seinfeld, by the way. Why'd they stuff him almost at the back of the room anyways? He's Lucas. He can send lightsaber-wielding Tauntauns after them if he gets pissed

Al Gore was just up with the Inconvenient Truth folks.

Bill o'reilly will have a field day with this. *sigh*

I'm pretty impressed so far.

Except that Pan's Labyrinth didn't win Best Foreign Feature :(

And as for the movie industry, if the last movie you saw was RotS, I would definitely say you're missing out :P

I want to see Pan's Labyrinth even more now. ;_;
I like the dancers.
And Ellen Degeneres is amazing. This is a pretty cool and fun Oscars.
Beyonce looked somewhat offput that she was not mentioned directly in Jennifer Hudson's speech. :p

The speeches have been pretty good so far, no real real real boring ones have gone on too long. The montages of films are really cool, I really like the writer montage, because I'm a writer, and it's so damn true.

See it. It's incredible. Absolutely incredible.

Writer's montage? I didn't see the Awards, but I imagine it went like this: "write write sleep write write redo write write yarggh write rewrite doublewrite doublethink write write edit rewrite burn in effigy write write epiphany write win sex booze yay material write write edit rewrite publish bestseller 15 minutes of fame lifetime of shame write write suicide booze."

Or something in that order? I'm afraid I didn't add in enough "writes" or perhaps I should've included the "cry like a little Communist baby at the futility of it all" phase.

Personally, I only wait to watch movies when they become $19.99 dvd's. That way I'll easily know if they're worthy enough, as by then the more mediocre movies will be deposited in two-for-one and combo specials so I can weed them out and find the fine ones. Also, I like how home speakers have an inherent tendency to not blow out my ears in a fit of din-a-tin-tinnitus unlike their bigger flashier but ultimately more compensating cousins in the theaters. So the movie industry's attempts to coerce me with their bribed nominations fall fallow on my fields of enjoyment.

I was quite glad Pan's Labyrinth won as much as it did. It really showcases Del Toro's abilities and it's a wonderful movie to boot!

I'm happy for Martin Scorsese, he finally won.

I watched it last night.

I'd agree that it's nice to see Martin Scorsese finally won the big a ward for him. As well, as The Departed to win Best Picture. I don't expect it to win it. I thought Babel or Little Miss Sunshine, would have one it. But, hey, it was a great film.

I wanted Will Smith to win Best Actor, for his role in Pursuit of Happyness. He was fantastic in that film. But, I am sure Forrest Whittaker deserved his award. I wanted to see Last King of Scotland, but haven't got the chance yet.

I thought it was overall, an entertaining show. Ellen Degeneres was pretty amusing to watch. I think she did a great job hosting. Though, we could have seen a bit more of her. And Will Farrell, Jack Black, and O'Reilly's little comedy montage was entertaining.

Go Jennifer Hudson! Show that diva Beyonce who's really got the acting talent!

Also, not to sound absolutly gay, but did J-Lo look fabulous or what? My GOD! I must also give snaps to Maggie G., Cate Blanchett, Rachel Weisz, Emily Blunt(Even though that BITCH took Michael buble off the market), Nicole Kidman, and Naomi Watts

unoriginal piece of crap.

Like... Pan's Labyrinth? :p

The Academy usually does a good job choosing. Though I have to say that... I have both Saving Private Ryan... and Shakespeare in Love... and SPR kicks the **** out of Shakespeare in Love. 1998 Academy Awards were wrong! :p
