Yes you can download youtube videos.

lolz...indeed you can. Just use firefox and an extension like unplug or videodownloader. You will need a flash video player like FLV Player to play them. Proggies like Total Video Convertor or Riva FLV encoder(freeware) will convert them for you :)

A WAV-file (pronounced WAVE) has nothing to do with video as far as I know.

WAV is an uncompressed digital sound file, though it can hold compressed audio. It's the most lossy form of storing audio, but also takes up the most space (that I know of).

Usually 10MB is roughly 1 minute of sound.

And .WAV is Winamp Video
That's NSV (Nullsoft Video). There's also NSA (Nullsoft Audio).

For videos I'd recommend you try encoding with either WMV or MPEG.

I cant remember where I got it, but I have a program and you can download YouTube videos and it converts them and downloads them in one process.

Well...w/e...I doubt that it's legal anyway.

check itunes store, Im sure they do this stuff in mpeg4 for video ipods. You'll get better quality than YouTube, at a cost of course :D

Im sure winamp can play mpeg4s, or has a plugin that allows it. whats the big deal with winamp anyway :( Im not a teenage girl/boy who gets wowed by pretty skins for it...who cares - blah! :p

Boo all you like, WMP 11 is great for simple playback and organisation of music IMO :) It also allows media streaming, allowing you to share media content easily across networked PCs (also running wmp11). Its really easy, and doesnt look like a pile of homebrew **** like VLC. For those that like FLVs, Quicktime .movs etc, some directshow filters and registry tweaking will allow you to open it all in WMP :) (I do i t to get all my different video files to open in vista media center)

Or you can use mplayer and not have to install any codecs (the binary codecs on their site just need to be copied into the executable directory in Windows) and not tweak your registry. Plus you can use all sorts of pretty skins.

She is so cute that's why we call her Rei-chan ^_^ (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/images/skins/MidnightLove-01.jpg)

Oh, astro, I don't like Winamp at all really. I love Windows Media Player a lot though. See, I have a Sandisk Sansa e250, and it can play videos, but it doesn't play MPEG-4 very well or not at all...it's just something w/ the software, so that's why I ask.

I use a program called SUPER (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html), totally free and totally amazing!

Will convert to and from pretty much any video format, even ones for you phone :)

See, I started using WindowsAVI to convert some of my MPEG-4 vids to WMV format, but it just wouldn't work. Every time I started it up, it said that I needed something like "Quicktime Alternative" which I also downloaded and installed, and it still came up w/ the same message...it's just really frustrating me.

Use SUPER, it works...

Also make sure you have Quicktime installed (or an alternative) and any other codecs you might want to use (DivX, Xvid, etc...)

Looks really complicated...and their site is kind of clutter...kinda makes me nervous.

Don't worry about it, it's got the NegSun seal of approval, if it sets your mind at ease, scan it with Avast or AVG when you've downloaded it, it's clean...

And it's quite easy to use ;)

Okay, Ill try it out...you better be right about it...

I keep getting "errors" whenever I try to encode just about everything...w/e...I'll just get a portable DVD player...less of a hassle.

Negative Sun

Probably cause you don't have the right codecs installed...

I'm pretty sure that I have everything that it said to have installed...installed.

Oh, and by the way...I believe the site says: "All The Necessary Codecs Are Built In"

lolz...I have super on my drive - but have never installed it >> avast gave me a warning about it when DLing to tell truth. Im sure its fine, but they need to get a nicer site going - the el cheapo look puts many off methinks...
