View Full Version : Top 10 Graphic Adventure Games

01-02-2001, 12:38 AM
Now, I know that this might be a tired topic, but I haven't seen it lately. I have seen "What is your favorite MI game" but not this. If I am wrong you may laugh at me all you want. However, I am interested in what everyone claims their top 10 list of adventure games is. I am also interested in how other LucasArts games stack up against MI games and how other publishers compare to LucasArts. If you can't think of 10, that is fine, because I am just curious. No more than 10 though please.

I'm partial to a bit of George Stobbart myself.(I like the 2 broken sword games).
I'd recommend them to anyone.

I've been trying to get through Discworld Noir lately, It's quite good as adventure games go, but it has the biggest plot/gameplay twist i've ever seen.
Try it.

1. The Longest Journey
2. Escape from Monkey Island
3. Curse of Monkey Island

I only recently converted as an adventure gamer by TLJ and I've only finished those 3. Though I have Gabriel Knight 3 and Riven, but I found the GK3's interface kinda difficult and altough Riven's an interesting game but I dunno I just don't want to play it again.

Before TLJ I was and still am Action/Adventure, Real Time Strategy, Simulations, Role Playing Game, and Turn Based Strategy gamer http://www.escapemi.com/forums/wink.gif

All you people should try the brocken sword games.
They match up to the monkey island series really well.
And the humour is pretty good as well.
Role on brocken sword 3!

newfoundgloryboy, I agree. That list was too hard to do. Whoever started this string should be publicly humiliated.

Wait a minute...I was the one who started this topic! Nevermind what I said about public humiliation. I said that in haste and did not mean it. I should of rethought what I said instead of wishing public humiliation upon myself. Now let's forget whatever I said and no one should scroll the page back to my message.

I've never heard of the Discworld series, Legend of Kyrandia, Simon the Sorcerer, Freddy Pharkass, Broken Sword, or Beneath a Steel Sky. Are these games that have only been released in Europe? Do you know how I can get any of them across the pond?

What about Neverhood by Dreamworks?

01-14-2001, 01:52 AM
neverhood \m/!!

all of the games u mentioned dinghy are all available in the us, discworld is populare in th UK, broken sword is from old virgin interactive as well as kyrandia series and steel sky, and freddy pharkass is from old sierra. u can find most of these at abandonware sites but, dont ask for links http://www.escapemi.com/forums/smile.gif

Actually, I might have played a demo of one of those. There was this one game that had something to do with a bombing and a clown with a mask and a sewer. Is this one of the Broken Sword games or do I just need to get a lot more sleep and stay out of the sun? Sun...that's a good one! http://www.escapemi.com/forums/smile.gif I haven't seen the sun in Seattle in a long time.

What's \m/?

Today, by myself, twelve games I've beaten!

01-15-2001, 08:23 PM
yeah dinghy thats the first broken sword

and \m/ is the closest thing i could type to a hand gesture that i use alot, its like the death metal sign, kinda hard to explain.

01-15-2001, 11:25 PM
Since I can't entirely trust nathanism666's opinions as being valid, what does everyone else think of the Broken Sword games?

01-16-2001, 01:21 AM
heh trust is hard to come by, but i have played both games in the series and they were very good, although on the easy side, if u have free weekend i think u could get through one of em.
