Michael Bay to direct Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/04/13/michael-bay-to-direct-prince-of-persia-the-sands-of-time/)

Discussion, commence!

Heh... This might actually be good. It would be interesting if he filmed the original Prince of Persia, thought. It would be a film about a lot of jumping.

To be honest, the world needs more movies like PoP would be. Just as long as Bay doesn't manage to personally screw it up, I'll be happy

Needs a likeable main character such as Jack Sparrow to succeed.

well, sands of time does use a lot of slo-mo action, which Michael bay seems to like in his movies...

To be honest, the world needs more movies like PoP would be
like 300? which had a lot of slo motion sword fighting?

It claims he going to veer from the storyline though.

:/

I hope it's still relatively the same.

I've never played PoP so I don't really know what to expect except what I know based on previous video game movies.

Jerry Bruckheimer tends to sprinkle win all around him. Videogames don't translate perfectly into movies, they must be tweaked.

This is one of those games that doesn't need a movie, because it's good enough just playing it.

What do you mean "Finally a decent Game to Film adaptation?"? Silent Hill was pretty decent.

Based on previous game to movie adaptations it probably wont suck completely. I'm just hoping for the best.

Eh, I didn't really care for the Silent Hill movie. However, I never played the games and all my friends who played them really appreciate the movie, so that's probably why.

Prince Of Persia was a movie, albeit in game form. Why deviate from the story?

They could make the whole trilogy.

Meh. I never played Prince of Persia.

And I still think Mortal Kombat is the best game to film adaptation :D

If you saw it when it first aired, it was the best thing in the world. You are just spoiled by blondie mute Link.

Noh Street Fighter was the best game-to-film evah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BOOYAH!!!

Seriously, I laughed so ****ing hard when the Rock said "Big ****ing Gun" in the Doom movie. That part was the best (aside from the First person scene which totally rocked solid peanuts)

Ahahaha, the ending was funny. I still think Halo should be done, despite the fact that it's NOT! Though, PoP might be interesting.

I didn't even finish Prince of Persia. I thought it was bloody boring. :(

I might be tempted to give it another try at some point.

But, hooray new movies. Though Mortal Kombat 1 is a really good game to film adaptation.

Lets hope this movie will do better then the two tomb raider movies. Which had nothing to do with the story.

Does a movie with Angelina Jolie need to stick true? Just kidding, but hopefuly this movie will be just as epic as the games.

Doesn't have as much potential as this (http://movies.ign.com/articles/791/791923p1.html) though. xD

they better keep it as accurate to the source material as possible if they want it to be great!

While we're on the subject of vid games to film adoptions, how about the upcoming Hitman film (as in Codename 47/big bald guy with barcode on back of head)?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465494/

It's got a decent cast and Luc Besson (as in Leon) on an executive producer level, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Yep, someone better piss themselves from spending too much time working on their stat points, then spend a good half a day rebuilding their happiness XD

I never played that game but I hope it turns out good for you guys. Truthfully I'd be surprised...after what they did with AvP and Doom. The fact that Fox isn't behind it is a good thing, Disney just might do a good job.

A PoP movie might actually turn out alright, if they get the right cast and come up with a decent plot. I mean Sands Of Time was a great game, but it was largely about running around solving puzzles and fighting enemies. You can only do that so much in a movie before it gets boring.

If Michael Bay did as good a job with Transformers as people seem to say, then I'm pretty pumped. :D
