Starting Sunday medical marijuana will be legal in New Mexico. But now the Department of Health has dropped a bombshell: It will allow people who qualify for medicinal pot to grow it in their own homes.

Under the new rule, patients will only be allowed to have four mature marijuana plants and three seedlings. Until the Health Department comes up with its distribution plan, patients will have to buy pot on their own wherever they can find it.

Discuss! (http://kob.com/article/stories/S126717.shtml?cat=500)

Meh, they've had the same thing here for years. Hell, the government even lets people grow it for the patients if they can't grow it themselves.

Edit: Isn't it ironic the first replier in this thread is a hallucination?

This whole thing is so f***ed up, simply because they can't say, hey, drug dealers, this was illegal and we'd haul your ass to jail for a bit for it, but we need to buy all your weed.

Seriously, this s*** needs to get figured out in a quickfast.

**** our government. Pot should be legal across the board, not just for patients. But perhaps this is a better topic for the Senate.

I thought about that, but I posted it expecting (or hoping, rather) for the "Wow, that's crazy" effect than the political/moral debate.

Yeah I noticed this article a couple days ago.

I agree that marijuana should be legal across the board. The problem is that many people's careers rely upon marijuana being illegal. A major source of revenue for the government comes from slapping fines on harmless pot heads alone.

So don't expect to see it legalized soon, I'm just glad that New Mexico is approaching marijuana with a little more common sense... Marijuana can really help with a lot of ailments.

I would rather see my government's money spent on locking away pedophiles (and keeping them there) than busting some dude with a bunch of plants in his back yard.

Sorry for getting preachy guys, I just feel strongly about this issue.

if Marijuana was legalized, you know how much money people would lose? It would be huge though, they would make like mega stores out of this. It'd be bad for the business thats happening now, but good for the smokers.

I'd imagine people would still smoke cigarettes, because people can smoke cigarettes in public. Smoking weed in public would probably earn you a lot of police attention. People might not drink as much though. A lot of people drink because they don't want to risk failing a drug test, but still want to get... intoxicated without having to smoke weed.

Legalized weed would mean assloads of money for the government. If only they'd get their fat old asses off their heads...or something like that.

You'd be surprised.
