Why didn't Vader sensed his childeren inside Padme. He must have known that they had kids that were strong in the force. So he schould be able to sense them like he sensed Obi-wan.
He schould have known that leia was there to. He should have known that he had captured his own daughter on the D-star.

My guess is that he assumed that since she died at childbirth, her children died too. Really, the whole system of 'sensing' people or things is rather vague in the Star Wars universe. Sometimes people can sense things across the galaxy, while sometimes people don't know what's going on in the next room.

You have to understand, when someone is born, they have barely any connection to the Force, it grows over time. Thats why the Jedi come for a Force sensitive child around the age of six, because they have grown with more force, but are still able to be trained. Luke and Leia were born, so they had barely a connection, and as they aged they had no training in the force, so it was no wonder why Vader couldn't sense Leia's force presence, because it was so weak.

Well, its more like, you don't try to sense thru the entire galaxy for every being with the slightest force affinity to see if it is possably your son, which you would assume to have lost, since you killer your love in front of your own eyes, or so you think.

It is also harder to sense the being with untrained force potential, or so it seems. Vader can't sense it from Leia even if she is THAT close to him. You would think he would at least thinks that she looks like Padme, or him(ex)self. As for luke, it is relying on the fact that Vader would try to stay away from the place, for one reason or another. I guess Mustafar would have the same effect, but its kinda hot there.

Because George wrote it that way.

exactly, if everything in star wars was consistent, the films wouldn't be half as good, Anakin would obviously sense 2 kids, but that would retcon ROTJ, same as Anakin would defeat obi-wan then Yoda then the emperor, and become ruler, but that would be boring and discount the OT. also, the clones would of failed to implement order 66 really. for the sake of the story 2+2=3

Thats why the Jedi come for a Force sensitive child around the age of six,

they take children at a very young age like 1 year old if not they have to much of a emotional bond with ther parents/carees a perfect exanple is anikin the jedi concil only took him on was because he was the choosen one but because of his age he had to much of an emotional bond with his mother that led him to the dark side.

Actually I think even in-universe there is an explanation for that. First off there ARE ways you hide from the force. There are also places that are crowded with strong(dark) emotions that can easily hide a specific being(like how Yoda hides etc). Oh and there are also places like tatooine where specific person chooses not to search consciously or not. Same goes for anything close to Padme's Death. Maybe in some way his leftover good side is interfering with his decisions.

Then its a matter of being familiar with the target you are searching when it comes to specific targets, Vader can certainly sense Obi-Wan he is is so familiar with, and also on Luke during the Endor mission after a few meetings with him. In short, you have to KNOW what you are searching for, which is especially true for something that is not-so-much-of-a-bright-light-in-the-force-yet at the time..

After that as said before it seems to be easier finding a force sensative trained into using the force. And while strong in the force kiddie Luke/Leia is probably not known for tapping into the force often what any control whatsoever.

It could be that Vader knew Leia was force sensitive to a degree but didn't give a rats ass, they both hated each other too much to concieve of the other as related.
Thats my simple theory.
