KOTOR Crash on Leviathan

Hi everyone, when I'm playing through the Leviathan, no matter which character I select, it crashes when I unlock the cellblock that the main character ,Bastilla and Carth are locked in.
The game just goes black, and crashes. My PC Specs below:

Compaq Presario V6000
AMD Turion Processor
nVIDIA Graphics Card
Windows XP

I've had this too, I don't know if this was due to my Nvidia GeForce card, because I have an ATI card now, but haven't played it since. But nevertheless, I got through it, by saving just before opening the cellblock, and then loading the save game after the game had crashed.
