Apple has done it again. They've also dropped the price of the iPhone significantly.

The iPod Classic now starts at 250 USD and 80 gigs, respectively.

The new iPod touch promises internet access via wifi, which is honestly very very cool.

I saw this earlier today too. I don't particularly care for the new Nano form factor. The old style was much more svelte. :)

Sad they didn't include FM radio.

Nifty. But, I am fine with my iPod. It works fine and well... looks fine as well. Though, I do like the looks of the "iPod classic".

How much for the touch? I'm actually slightly interested in that one. That is unless it's $500.... and on second thought... only 16gb? Is that correct? Nah, no way....

RoxStar

300 for 8 400 for 16

TiE23

Yeah, forget it. I'd need $800 for the space I need. Then I can go on my PSP for the internet if I really wanted to.

Kind of surprised that they there wasn't a Touch+Classic model available (ie. an iPod with iPhone interface and a hard drive).

I do like the Wi-Fi though. :)

Maybe it was due to
Big display + hard drive + wifi = about 10 minutes of battery life :p

hmmm, i like the Touch. 16GB is perfect, as i have 15.17GB :P and i don't listen to half of it, so it'd make for some good videos with the extra space. would have to re-encode all my videos. also that $449 price tag is pretty steep. don't care about the iTunes store as they are rip-offs when i could just go to G2P on the internet on the Touch. I'll have to wait and try a demo of it.

All this and they still don't bother releasing the damned phone on the continent with the largest population eva. :(

And BTW, is it just me, or does the iPod Touch look pathetically similar to the iPhone?

MTV2

it ....es me off how they were just making the iPod Touch and not focusing on getting the iPhone in other countries...preferably Canada. the iPod Nano looks like ****, the Classic is nice.

They do, but they are likely running the same operating system, and since most of the surface is the screen that's what you see. :)

I'll probably stick with my a few generations old iPod shuffle (the white model that looks like an USB memory stick) a while longer. The smaller the better, makes it easier to carry around.

They could have at least tried to change its look. :(

Chinese duplicators aren't going to be happy with the iPhone/iPod Touch similarity! :( Or maybe they are...

To keep this in perspective for you. Bongo...

XBOX 360 Premium... $350
iPod Touch... $400

One has sexiness, the other has Halo 3. Yeah, that's what I thought.

Am I the only who gets annoyed listening to Ipods? Maybe it's just me, but the fact that there's usually outside noise going on while I'm listening disrupts the pleasure. That, and the fact that's it's only one act of carelessness away from losing more than three hundred dollars. I'd just rather listen to the music in my head.

And no, that last sentence wasn't an admission of insanity. :p

Really, I've never heard of any such thing. It must be Japan-exclusive!

And i soooo want an MP3 player, but whatever it is. It'll never be an iPod.

Alright, I been avoiding the subject, but it is just being rubbed in my face too much lately to avoid it.

Here is my situation.

First MP3 player I got was the Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 30GB. That was due to much influence from the likes of many of you on here who recommended that to me. It has been a VERY good MP3 player over the years. Only gripe I had with it, is that at 30 GB, while I WAS able to put nearly every CD I owned on that machine, I barely EVER listed to everything I put on it. And last summer I finally had filled it up to capacity. My only gripe about it, was it used this sort of wheel dial thing on the side, and making play lists, and selecting music was kind of a pain in the ass. New problem I have, is using the old software on Windows Vista, now that I have a new computer. Right now, I am using the Creative Zen V 1GB. Yes I got a smaller one, but I rarely ever listen to more than 5 or 6 albums at any given time in my life, so I have had a good run with this one. Plus, it's the size of about two quarters, so it fits neatly in my pocket and weighs nothing. Only problem I am having now, is I leave for Vegas in two days, and it was kind of a Bitch trying to decide which music to put on it. I managed to restrict it to stuff I have purchased over the summer. My NEW problem is that the charger and USB cable is the same thing...only I no longer have a laptop, nor do I need one anymore, and I certainly don't want to bring a laptop with me to Vegas just to charge my freaking little MP3 player. So now I guess I need something a little bigger, with a regular AC adapter. I thought about ZUNE, but um... that is kind of a bugger unless all your mp3s were acquired um....yeah...not going to go there.

So what is the best MP3 player for me now? I would LIKE to stick with CREATIVE if I can, but I want something I can charge in a hotel room. You know?

I have the old iPod mini and I think it was earlier this year I had to replace the battery because it wouldn't hold a charge at all but it still seems like it doesn't last as long as it should.

The user interface does look cool and I like how thin it is. I just dislike that It's so short and wide. The next iPod I'll be buying will probably be the iPod Touch.

Thanks for the link :)

Probably: :3

I'd say the battery life is about the same for both, I can't think of any cons other than a smaller screen which might be harder to read.

The pros are simple, the Nano is smaller :p

Lightsaberboy

doesn't that make it easier to lose tho if it's so small?

The Classic has a hard drive and goes up to 160GB. Therefore I suspect battery life will be better on the Nano.

The pros are simple, the Nano is smaller :pAccording to the tech specs, it's inoperable above 113 degree. Means I can't get one, unless I'm willing to live with something that won't work if I'm outside in the summer.

I do like that it's based on flash memory. I don't like that it doesn't have a tuner.

One would assume so. It'd be a pretty stupid marketing technique otherwise.
