Right, yesterday I had the idea of using a Wii controller to play PC games, (yes before you argue about it, it is possible to connect a Wiimote a PC and use it), but in order to do this I would have to invest in a bluetooth USB dongle so my comp can connect to bluetooth devices.

What I want is for some other people who already have a Wii and bluetooth enabled comps to test out playing KOTOR with a Wiimote and nunchuk, I have already written a basic script, (doesnt use the IR and there arent many movement based controls yet such as pushing your hand forwards to activate a friendly force power), but hopefully it will give you, and me a good idea of how much fun it can be.

So what I need is a volunteer with a bluetooth enabled pc and a wiimote and nunchuk, and I will send you the neccesary files and walk you through how to do it all and you may possibly be the very first person to play KOTOR with motion controllers.

Hello Jon Smith and welcome to Lucasforums. And don't Wiimotes use a sensor that should be on top of your tv?

A common misconception mate, the 'sensor bar' is just some infra red leds (use a camera phone and you can see them). The sensor is actually inside the Wiimote itself, you can make a diy sensor bar using christmas lights, candles, LEDS etc, what I am proposing doesnt use the IR sensor in the Wii remote yet, so you dont need to worry about trying to set up a DIY or wireless sensor bar yet.

All this currently does is use the Wiimote buttons and a few actions to control KOTOR, not perfectly, menu use for example will be serverly limited, this is just sort of a beta test to see how much fun it is.

That will be a great mod.

Right, well I have done it, it works quite nicely, some of the controls need to be tweaked and refined but it works :)

I have bluetooth built into my laptop and four wiimotes. If I have time and you still need someone to do further testing I'd help.

MAN THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I always wondered if it would be possible to KotOR with a wiimote! Though I dont have a Wii I know someone who does and has 4 controllers! The only problem is I dont know if my laptop has BlueTooth.... I dont think its does. My laptop is a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC running Vista... I will check it out but will it only work with BlueTooth because I have a small DVD player remote that came with the Laptop and it can be used from 10 feet away. Would it be possible for me to get the WiiMote to work on that? I really dont want to have to get BlueTooth.

How does it work? Do you swing your lightsaber with the remote? Do you engage a battle with an enemy if you point at him with the remote? Tell us more?

This could work out brilliantly or it could be a complete disaster and you wasted lots of money. You should be careful.

I do hope you succeed Jon_Smith.
