When you have added everything you want to the robes save the file as something. (like my_robe) Then place the file in the Override folder (If you don't have an Override folder make a new one and name it Override, and yes I did spell it right). Then enable cheats in your game and type in "giveitem my_robe" (without the quotes)
then go to your inventory and it should be there. Don't ask me how to place it in the game because I don't know how.

You have to use a .uti file of any item and change its properties to make it appear in game and the name of the uti file e.g a_robe_99.uti you would have to enter cheat like this:giveitem a_robe_99.And you got the robe.

Do I just make the Uti file or do I get it from Kotor Tool?

LordRevan999

Getting from kotor tool is the best method as a generated uti is given to you you can make changes although I had never made a uti file by myself.

Okay I tried making one but failed. Will only work if you change properties of a uti file from kotor tool.

Lordjedi

how do I do that?

LordRevan999

Simple open kotor tool.
Then go to and open BIFs.
Then open templates.
Then Open Blueprints,item
Then extract a uti file, the best way is to find a similar properties uti file.(which one do you want)
Then open GFF editor that is in kotor and open the uti file you extracted.
Then change the properties like the Base Item e.g Ion Blaster or Jedi Master robe etc need help on it pm and ask.
You also have to change the texture variation number to a number which is going to be use as cheat.
For this change the templatesresref in general's tab in gff editor when uti is opened to a name like a_robe_66
Then in tag text box change the name to a_robe_66
And finally change the texture variation number to 66
You would understand That same nuber must be used and then save it or edit its oter properties any help needed will be given
OK now open game open cheats console and type:giveitem a_robe_66 and you would get it.Hope its helpful.

Lordjedi

But wouldn't that mean replacing an item because I'm making 6 new ones so can you help?

LordRevan999
12-29-2007, 04:09 PM
Ok I didn't explained it well here it goes. The name you use in templatesresref is the cheat being used also forgot to tell that name of uti file should be same e.g a_robe_66.uti.
NOW I will explain there are a number of these files in kotor tool If you want to make new items use a name not present in blueprints, items like a_robe_66 is not present so it would give you a custom Item.

Lordjedi
12-29-2007, 04:14 PM
1.a_robe_66 is in K2 i'm working on K1
2.What do you mean use one that is not present and how do I get it?

LordRevan999
12-29-2007, 04:19 PM
Use any name like MYRobe.uti.Only edit a uti and change tag and templatesresref to that name you want can you any name trust me.And oh use uti form kotor 1 then but it will still not matter if you use a_robe_66.You can use robe.uti,dark.uti any name any name.

Lordjedi

So I don't go into Blue Print item or I use something like g_a_clothes but rename it so it won't replace it?

LordRevan999
12-29-2007, 04:32 PM
You have to go to blueprints, item and extract any uti I prefer and insist that choose the one which would be similar to your model like for blasters blaster uti and armor for armor, robe for robe etc and yeah name it as you like it ain't going to replace it.

Lordjedi
12-29-2007, 04:54 PM
So I opened g_a_jedirobe02 and I am using this skin so on the tag and resref do I name the file that i'm using one there?

LordRevan999
12-29-2007, 04:57 PM
use any name you like but in both use same name and then when you save your uti file name the uti file same as the name in templatesresref and tags.
EDIt:I am going to sleep hope you get some help from all this.OR I could send you a pm with pics ok bye.

Back to the topic I put the files in the game got the items but since I'm using a Dark Jedi Robe for the uti it ends up a dark jedi robe not my robe

When that happens to me, it is usually because I forgot to change the texture variation in the .uti file to match the robe's texture file.

http://www.e-varmint.net/ex-jedirobe77.jpg

In this case, the texture file would be named PMBI77.tga.

Lordjedi
12-29-2007, 07:15 PM
so is the texture vartion the last 2 digits?

If you are using g_a_jedirobe02.uti as your starting point, you should be using PMBI02.tga as your starting texture (if it is a male robe). It will look like this:

http://www.e-varmint.net//tut/pmbi02.jpg

When you have changed the texture, save it as PMBIxx.tga, xx being the last two digits of your renamed g_a_jedirobe .uti file,

Example: g_a_jedirobe55.uti, PMBI55.tga.

I'm not sure what item or model that one is supposed to go with. If you want to modify the Dark Jedi Robe, I am pretty sure that you have to start with PMBI02.tga (or PFBI02.tga for a female robe). In any event, your final .tga needs to start with the letters PMBI or PFBI.

But How do I get it in the game

But How do I get it in the game

You have to name the .tga so that the game will associate it with a jedi robe. That is what the PMBI means.

I don't know what the P stands for, but M=Male, B=Body, I=Jedi Robe. If your .tga is named N_JediMemM01, the game will not understand that it is intended for your particular .uti file.

Additionally, clothing designs are not usually interchangeable. You can try using N_JediMemM01 and renaming it with a PMBI prefix but it may not come out so good.....

Lordjedi
12-29-2007, 09:51 PM
P stands for player :D and so I rename it something like PMBI77?

e-varmint

P stands for player :D and so I remane it something like PMBI77?

That should work, just make sure that it matches the texture variation number in the .uti file.

Again, for the best results, start from scratch with the PMBI02 texture. If you try to use the N_JediMemM01 texture, it will end up looking like this:

http://www.e-varmint.net/zzzrobe.jpg

Edit: I deleted the following from a post in the Taris Upper City Emporium, where it did not belong, and put it here for future reference.

Here is a technique you can try when you start getting more ambitious.

If your starting texture looks like this:

http://www.e-varmint.net//tut/pmbi02.jpg

Try copying out parts of it out like this:

http://www.e-varmint.net//tut/cutout.jpg

Add a texture like this:

http://www.e-varmint.net//tut/cutout1.jpg

Make the texture somewhat transparent, paste it into the original texture file.

You will get this:

http://www.e-varmint.net//tut/cutout3.jpg

In this example, I only did part of the robe, but it will give you the general idea. Something to aspire to as your experience progresses......

If it is not an existing jedi robe design, it will not be very easy. Since I'm not that familiar with the N-series textures, I'm not sure what to tell you. My suspicion is that you would have to retexture PMBI02 to look like the robe in question. Is there any way you can post a screenshot that shows the robe?

I am sorry to Ruban Shan but this was the only picture I can find. It's ruban shans here is the link http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=7854813ln8.jpg see that jedi master thats the robe i'm trying for

Is it from a mod that Rueben Shan created, or a screenshot that he took? Also, let's continue this on the PM. We are about to get in trouble for posting too much in this thread.

Edit: Read this old post by T7nowhere. This appears to be the easiest technique to accomplish what you want to do. Substitute your texture for the Bandon texture.

If you want to use that texture you would have to make a model and do things I don't know about to get it in game.

@RevanBastila: yeah I remember :D
@LordRevan/Evarmint: How would I get that model. How would I even make it?

Off topic: I find it very amusing how many people don't really know how to spell my name... :D I've got to give e-varmint some props, he along with SkywalkerRules are the only two who I've seen spell it right. :)

On-topic: That was one of the templates for a character in Kotor that was thrown out... sorry... but I have no... well very LITTLE skill in re-skinning. I can't really help you out... I don't remember which template it was... I'm going through the mod, sprucing it up a bit... if and when I find it, I'll let you know which one it is... all you'd really have to do is make it a disguise. I think, assuming it's got one for every PC head in the game...

OK, I'm back from the PM with the best advise that I can muster. I like this thread, because it brings up an interesting question: "How do we convert NPC items to player-wearable items?".

Reuben's suggestion is probably the one that you want to go with. If an existing disguise does not exist for this, it is going to be much easier to learn how to alter .2da files than it is to learn how to create a new custom armor in NWMAX/3DSMAX.

If you intend to release this new item as a mod, you will have to learn how to use the TSL Patcher. Any time you alter a .2da file, the change must be included with your mod, or the item(s) will not work. Unfortunately, this involves adding a line to an existing game data file instead of just placing a file in override.

I am unqualified to offer any advice on NWMAX, so I'll stay away from that issue.

Whichever way you choose to proceed, you should spend as much time as you can stand in the tutorials threads.

So tell me when you find the template tell me. As for the disguse how would that work? How would I get the disguse?

Darth Kalverys
12-31-2007, 02:47 PM
When you create the new item, you go to the Properties section, double click on one of the gray rectangles, and then another "pop-up" pops up and on Property name scroll all the way down to "Disguise". Then go to the rectangle that just popped up as viewable when you click on Disguise and add the template into it.

:EDIT:

I found the template... but unfortunately there isn't one for every head... the template is Jedi_Council_Member_Male... sorry...

Lordjedi
12-31-2007, 02:54 PM
what uti do I use for this robe

Darth Kalverys
12-31-2007, 02:59 PM
Well you can create one called "jedi_council_robe" I suppose... but that is entirely up to you. Then you can implant it on a Jedi Member like Nemo by opening up his corpse and putting his inventory and putting any thing on it, then you go to the item and beside the name box, edit that box and put in jedi_council_robe, then it will appear when you take the items from his corpse. If that doesn't make any sense, PM me and I'll tell you in a more detailed response, I'm just a little busy right now... so I can't go to the other computer and open Kotor Tool and tell you what each box is called.
