View Full Version : Purchasing pirate ships

I read on Wookieepedia that in the game you can purchase the ships used by the Black Sun pirates from pirate docks. How is this possible, 'cause I'd really like to get them.

On some skirmish maps there are pirate docks which you can capture in order to purchase pirate ship. AFAIK it is not possible in GC mode.

Thanks. I don't play Skirmish because it seems nothing more to me than a mishmash of various maps.

Well it is one map, for one battle overall
GC is bigger and generally has more features is why I choose to play it more offen...

oh one more thing. you can only capture them with fighters or bombers and dont try to make things while there are enemy fighters nearby--- if they capture it you will not get your unit or a refund.

If you play Single Player Galactic Conquest with the Rebellion on EAW, you know that sometimes they give you additional missions in your quest log? Well, sometimes, the Black Sun Pirates need your help and if you help them, you can receive Pirate Interceptor Frigate from them if you succeed. Haven't played for long, correct me if I'm wrong.

i've never gotten that one.
Pirate units to me are pretty weak in durability, however, the IPV seems better at destroying fighters than other corvettes, and the pirate fighter is kind of like the best non-hero fighter. The pirate frigate, it can hold against an acclamator but not win, for me, pirate units are for early game(except the fighters) but that's in skirmish. In GC, since you only get one pirate frigate, not the Venator-class in the briefing, it's pretty useless there.(Unless the tech max is 1, which probably will never happen unless you're playing me:D.)

They're those weird octogan-shaped things. If you capture them, you can create Pirate units (Skirmish only)
I think they are a bit better than both factions fighter and cruiser units because they are cheaper, and, correct me if I'm wrong, a bit stronger
