Hey, so I've been reading about the new "Kindle." from Amazon.com. It looks pretty cool. Anyone got one already or even just tried one out?

I think that it's pretty cool that anyone can submit content that can be sold on Amazon.com for it (or at least that's how it seems to me). It's a very unique idea, i wonder how well it will sell.

Im pretty sure negsun mentioned this in his news thread...

as for myself - I like the idea of a paperless book gizmo, as long as it can handle glare properly, is a standard page size and relatively *CHEAP*, which the kindle is not :(

Paperless books are the way of the future, but not just yet !

Oh sorry bout the semi-same post. But yea, agreed with all the things above...although, I wouldn't mind selling a book on there...

Thats one huge plus im electronic book distribution. Those leeching intermediaries, agents, book cos etc, can get totally sliced out by authors who can focus on the quality of their work rather than the bottom dollar. Great for up'n'coming, young writers, even fanfic peeps - now if such a device could be adapted to handle comics - the attractiveness of it would double - though probably the cost too >> :( still, I see second hand older school large screen pdas that can be used for this purpose going dirt cheap nowdays - not good in glare though > still great indoors I think Im going to have to give it a try :D

I don't want one mainly because I don't want people bothering me when I'm trying to read, wondering what it is.

^lol, that's a very legitimate reason actually...

lolz, what if that curious person was a pretty girl !!

I usually dont get approached by strangers in such a fashion though :(

Heres one of many video reviews of the kindle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAf4vxGEOAo) - pages do seem to come up nice in light - interesting to not eit has an sd card too :) I also understand why the price is so high - its an evdo cellular device - ie. you can get your books anywhere you can get a cellular line - and you dont need to pay an extra subscription just for the cellular service.

I think the device needs to evolve a little before it starts to enter minds of the book buying masses
