Short summary:

There is going to be a Wii-game connected to the Clone Wars animated series, and it'll let you use the Wii-mote as a lightsaber.

hOMG I can't wait.

Using the force with Wii will be awesome, especially since, I believe, they took out most of the environmental stuff in TFU for the Wii... At least that's what I recall GameInformer telling me.

The graphics looked pretty cool, this should be a fun one. I'll definitely get it.

Also, since this is one of the titles that a LA employee leaked, it makes me wonder if that makes the rumor of a KotOR 3 / MMO more likely to be true.

This is the next best thing since the laptop that makes lightsaber sounds when you move it around.

It doesn't appear to be 1-to-1 saber control. I bet it's going to be along the lines of:

"<<<Swing Wiimote LEFT to perform action!>>>"

And your jedi automatically does a double forward twirl flip and stabs two sith minions in the face.

Why can't they utilize the wii control tech for some kicking rad for real 1-to-1 control? It's what we're all wanting.

Kain

Because Wii fails, Rhett. Because Wii fails.

It's probably harder than it seems. But if they would at least have a sort of "clock" motion. Swinging the saber in one direction tranlsates to swinging in the "10 o'clock" position on the screen, or something. Stabbing and thrusting being what they are, too. Still sounds like a step in the right direction, I guess.

Why can't they utilize the wii control tech for some kicking rad for real 1-to-1 control? It's what we're all wanting.I always figured the feel of that would be lacking, since there will be no resistance from the other saber or objects. Wouldn't it just be kind of flailing the controller around?

Boba Rhett

Yes, but it's a huge step in the right direction over using your thumb on a controller.

Darth Groovy

Because Wii fails, Rhett. Because Wii fails.

Quoted for emphasis. Nintendo has been sending false promises of a bad ass light saber game for wii ever since before the wii launched. I had one for about a year, and after countless games of fail and boredom I traded the damn thing in. All the controls on the Wii are like Rhett says. Swing it this way slightly left to perform 1-3 functions. They even screwed up Mortal Kombat....which could have been sooooooooo cool if there was a punching motion. But nope, swing it left and right and press A to perform a special move-LAME!

The Wii is the stupidest fly by night gimmick that isn't worth the quart of goat piss it costs to produce. The biggest problem with the Wii is that developers don't know what to do with the gimmicky controls so most of the games fail. Seriously, why bother?

I will hold out for Force Unleashed on the 360 thank you. And in the mean time, I will have Soul Caliber 4 on both 360, AND PS3 to tide me over.

Hiya folks. I just thought I'd drop by to say '**** Wii'. That's it for this year. Supposing anyone's still talking about the Wii this time next year, I'll see you then.

Speaking as a gamer who owns a Wii and is also a father of young children, I think the Wii is an extremely sucessful system. It engages the kids unlike any other system. The most of the games are designed to be interactive, vibrant, unique and/or very fun(in a silly, unadulterated, unmitigated, childlike fun).

But speaking as a Gamer who sometimes just wants a mature, graphically intense, actioneer or adventure game, or would just plain like to see a much more advanced step forward in the use of the hardware the Wii has available, (i.e. freeform Sword/lightsaber control) and quite frankly much of those advances just seem logical given the capabilitiies of the system hardware.) I think the Wii fails miserably. The Wii is pandering to the young kids and their parents, which is a viable market. However, that market grows up and matures and will just move on to the other systems if you don't give them a reason to stay with you. Nintendo, just doesn't grasp that. They make the games and system just engaging enough to keep a 3-10 year olds happy, and quit at that.

But overall, the father in me, as well as the little kid in me, loves the Wii and feels it delivers more than it fails, but it certainly isn't without it's shortcomings. Sadly, all of which are easily addressed, but no one at Nintendo seems to care about that.
