Well, what do you know? Exile thinks he can handle a planet mod. Well I probably couldn't, but luckily this is a joint project between myself, Marius Fett. and Quanon. :D

Yavin IV, a planet that is held by both the Republic and Sith. Both sides have been in a stalemate for a time, but recently the Sith have had mystical powers on their side. The question is why? The Republic requests for your help in a small effort to drive the Sith back. This small effort has a much bigger threat then what meets the eye when the spirit of Exar Kun is revealed, a lost Jedi found, and a battle that will change Yavin IV forever...

Features:

-A new planet (moon) added to the galaxy map to be explored.

-New unique weapons and items.

-Over five side quests.

-Two new force powers to be learned.

-New enemies to be fought.

-Exar Kun's Spirit to confront.

Looks good. I remember playing both the Yavin IV mod for KoTOR and teh Exar Kun tomb mod, both very fun and quite entertaining. I really like the VO's btw. Good job. Keep it up. :D

This is excellent! I loved the other Yavin IV KotOR mod that was recently translated to English (well, a few months ago) and while they made good use (mostly) of pre-existing modules, it will be great to see you guys tackle it.

May I ask what the new Force powers will be? :D

Thank you Jae, I was just trying to say don't ask for when it will be done. Regardless, I have removed the "I will kill you!" part of the thread post to prevent further temptation.

More than two areas. I'd say we have at least five. Some of them are new thanks to Quanon. ;)

My goal for this mod, is 3 new areas:

- A base for the Republic, interiour, sort of bunker/military thing.

- A big generale Jungle area, that connects all others, an entrance to above mentioned base, a link to the landing area and a link to Khuns big tomb/temple.

- Last area would be Jungle around the facade of Khuns evil Tomb.

This is all in the planning and subject to change ofcourse.

After taking Advil numerous times to combat some frustrations with my computer I can finally update this mod! :emodanc:

A couple notes to y'all.

-I used a texture that Marius Fett gave to me some time ago for the texture of the ghosts. This may or may not change, depends whether Fett wants it to stay.

-I changed the "Disciples of Exar Kun" to "Brothers of the Sith." The reason for this was because that was the actual name of Kun's Organization during the Great Sith War. Just trying to clarify. ;)

At the moment, it's mainly Exile working on the quests etc, while Q and I make items, skins, areas and other models etc.

Thanks you all very much for the kind replies. I've been working on the puzzles of Kun's tomb so it isn't just a hack n' slash level. You'll have to think to make it out alive. :D

I should ask for your opinions on something. In the making of Kun's character, due to some problems with invisibility, I have decided to not make Kun invisible via textures.

Because having one character not invisible with the rest invisible is a bit weird, I now have couple options I'd like your opinions on that I could do:

A) Use a shield effect on Kun.

B) Make Kun a hologramish figure.

C) Make the other ghosts in the tomb visible.

The choice is yours young padawans. :p

And to Quanon and Marius Fett, feel free to run and shout "no! use the transparency!" :lol:

I would suggest not having Revan's robes for Exar Kun, mainly because they are so widely recognized, and they weren't in existence until Revan (I think). Just my 2 cents.

Ya, I immediately noticed they were Revan's robes. So far the Exar Kun skin looks awesome!

I don't know, I like the revan's robes. They can make any character look sithy.
Just my thoughts.

Edit: On second thought, you could take off the hood on revan's robes (if possible, I don't know much about that stuff) but keep the rest of the robes the same, it would still look sithy, and a bit less recognizable.

The Sith Assassin is probably a full-body model, so you can't really use a tunic from it. But, it may not be a full-body model, I'm too lazy to check ATM, but I know that you can't just equip a hood...

They are not full-body models.
90SK has countless mods with countless sith assassin reskined tunics.
And there are also mods with hoods and masks, or just hoods, or just masks.
Can't a hood be equiped in the utc file. I thought it can be equipped...

I suggest making Kun a hologramish figure...And if you'd like, I could retexture any robe you will tell me for Exar Kun...just to lift off your shoulders some work!:xp:

I think that the hologram effect for Kun would be the best idea. It would make him look like the force ghosts of Ben Kenobi and Yoda you see in the OT.

^Ah, yes, you're right. But, Quanon doesn't have to model anything, you can just adjust the texture or the Trimesh modifier to fix that.

@Sithspecter-the original plan was to actually use a Sith Assasin Tunic. However, that would mean in order to make the robe wearable to the PC, I'd need to replace something in appearance.2da. That would kill compatibility with a lot of other mods. And I don't want to be like Bioware with Darth Bandon's Fiber Armor. ;)

@Quanon-Wow I'm not bad at skinning bodies? When did that happen? 0_o

@NightArmor-Hey that's a good idea! I'll give it a go and post it later. And thanks for the compliment on Kun's Head.

@HdVaderII-I'm not a modeler, so I'd have NO clue how to do that. Perhaps Quanon would know.

@TheExile-There are hoods in TSL?

@Istorian-Thanks, but it would be good practice for me to skin the Armor.

@Revan411-Play the mod when it's out to find out. :D

Well, I can tell you I'm now working on the Yavin Jungle area.

Though, I'm not content with it yet, far from it actually, needs work on it.

Ok, I'm sorry to report that there will be no big bucketload of screenshots like I said there were going to be. Why? Well because anything that I posted right now would be major spoilers. Also, as Quanon mentioned, he is still working on the Jungle, so right now I would only be able to show the Temple of Exar Kun. Well then again, I guess people wouldn't be reading this thread if they didn't want some spoilers... What the hell! :D

Note: the final version of Kun's saber will be blue, not red.

Also, I don't think it would be a good idea to use a Sith Assasin tunic for Kun, mainly because then I wouldn't be ableto create a wearable robe without replacing a slot in appearance.2da.

I'm not sure to be honest, as I'm not on the closed beta list and I'm not sure what files it will modify. I think it would most likely modify lots of .2da files in the game plus some others. I'm not sure whether Kaevee is listed in appearance.2da, if not, there's a good example. Other than that I imagine global.jrl would be heavily modified along with the dialog.tlk file. In the end, I'd probably have to release a compatibility patch after I release the initial mod. So I guess eventually, yes. :)

Well I'll admit it, I haven't really done anything with this mod since the last update, TFU has eaten up my free time along with Honors Geometry homework. :p I just remembered this mod when Marius Fett told me that we should try to get back to work on it.

Anyways, I've done a couple reskins for sithy (and jedi) characters that I haven't shown yet. ;) I've also started over on some skins since my photoshop skills continue to grow. :D Also I have FINALLY learned the beauty of Taina's Replacer so now there will be edited models! :D

No, I'm still looking for a fresh idea to jump into my mind for Kun's Armor/Robe. I imagine I'll get one soon though. If not then I could reskin the Sith Assassin Tunic to look a bit more like a Darth Maul Robe and use that.

The Armor itself is the armor for an 'elite' Exar Kun Guard. I may have a head to go along with it too in the nearby future.

Wow; I love that Sith Armor. Gotta love Bandon's robe model. I like the Jedi robe, but nearly as much as the other.

Heh thanks. ;) I've had a peak at redrob's shadow/highlights tutorial, and I've been able to decrease the contrast between the chest robe thingy and the shoulder part. I've also been able to make the armor piece of the Jedi robe to look a bit more 3 dimensional.

Lastly, does anyone know if the terentatek models exist in TSL? Since Exar Kun was their creator I thought it might be cool if they ran around in certain areas. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate them, I'm not sure of their model files since I don't have K1 installed.

I just checked and their models aren't in TSL assets. :(

Plot Wise: I've made a decision that I know some people will hate me for. There won't be any lost Jedi in this mod. Why? Well I'd have to go way out of my way in the plot, and even then the plot wouldn't make a lot of sense. Remember, a mod doesn't need to have a Jedi in it to be good. :)

You will still be able to learn a Light Side force power (which I should probably begin), just probably not in the way you're thinking. ;)

Well let me spice up the news for you all !

I've been ( with lots of ups and downs) working on creating new maps for Exiles mod.

Like I said it was a bumpy road, had to find out somethings to do a proper kind of Yavin 4 Jungle thing.

So far I've got something thats looking good, I don't have pictures of it yet, though since its weekend for me, I'll continue tomorrow on my job.

If all goes well I might take some teaser screens for you peeps to look at :)

Anyway enough of my blabbing.

Since I worked with Silver on his BoS, I believe its the best choice to re-use certain areas and doing some new build ones.

Building new maps is quite slow and so it.... slows the whole progress of the mod down.

So if its released late, don't look at me :lol:

It would also take the average player longer because they don't know where there going whereas I know what exactly must be done to proceed to the next area. So it took me fifty minutes.

Awesome looking good cant wait for the release.

Only thing I dont really like is the white statue in the 3rd pic kinda looks bad with the dark building and larger statues. Id recommend changing that texture.

Also do you mind if I make some loadscreens for this mod after its released?

héh... I used Dxun textures though, must be the brown orange theme and there's a good change their indeed the same :p

Certain trim textures get reused a lot in both games, just with a differant color...

Or our brains are nearly the same SS, brain twins... scarry or Las Vegas :lol:

and the tslrp compatabilty problem will probably be the galaxymap script but you can always warp to the first module:D

I actually posted the trailer around the same time as I had the [WIP] thread up.

Anyways, this is more of an update to show that I haven't ditched the project. I've been re-doing a lot of old modules, as the scripts were very buggy, and expanding upon the plot. Hopefully, the mod will have some reasons for you to return to the planet once you've finished the main quest (something that I find is lacking in some planets).

Anyway, I have some new skins, and 3 character bios to show. ;)

Like many Jedi in the Mandalorian Wars, Paul was tempted to join Revan and Malak. He ultimately decided that the Force needed him elsewhere, the Jedi Council had no influence in his decision. He believes that the Force runs far deeper than a simple distinction between good and evil. When Revan and Malak returned and the Jedi Exile was exiled, he became frustrated with Jedi Order. Paul didn't think it was right for the Jedi to distinguish Revan and Malak as evil when they wouldn't accept that it was wrong for them to watch the Outer Rim burn. He believed that the council held too much pride in their beliefs and would refuse to accept failings in the order, especially Master Atris. He ultimately left the order out of frustration and traveled from world to world, looking for failings in the Order that led to the rebirth of the Sith. He currently resides on the Jungle Moon of Yavin IV, investigating the Massassi Temples and Exar Kun's teachings.

He's dead... but it does look a bit odd doesn't it? I'm not expert on force cages and the electric barriers, but naturally if he's dead it wouldn't really matter on the burns he got from hitting the barrier.

After reading this entire thread I have to say this mod is looking very nice. Good to see Quanon, Dark Lord of the Modules, on this project. In fact, if you create a decent storyline, write decent dialog, and have decent VOs (all of which I am sure you'll handle perfectly) then this mod will not only be great, but it'll be refreshing. New modules (and even old modules reskinned very effectively) means it won't feel like just another mod, but part of the original game. Of course, there'll be no way around it when it comes to the landing or takeoff videos (provided you're adding those). The only way to create videos of the same quality as the ones provided with the game is to use the same equipment as Obsidian's.[/Rant]

Anyway, cool stuff so far. Exar Kun's head is pretty awesome, despite you SPOILER using Dopak the Mercenary's head SPOILER. White eyes are always awesome. :D

I'm getting close to the final version of Exar's Robe I think. I'm not going to make it wearable by the PC though, simply because it will cause many mod-fights. :p

That is very well done, that look definitely screams EXAR KUN. Nice tie in to have it look similar to the clothing worn by Haazen and Darth Sion.

You know what'd be cool? If you could make both the robe and head transparent like a ghost. I know Silveredge9 did it once when he gave Ajunta Pall a unique appearance, and the same effect here would be tight...unless you having Exar Kun not be a ghost for some reason.

Yes, it's still alive. Although the finish line has gotten very close, farther away, closer, then father again because of the scope of the mod changing. It was an ambiguous project to begin when I did because of how inexperienced I was with scripts/dialogs/or just writing in general. English 10 Honors has "improved" my writing supposedly. A lot of my dialogs before had a lot of unnecessary words, so I had to go through to make the sentences precise and concise. Oh, and for anyone who thinks they can do a planet mod, please read InSidious' advice and plan everything. It will save you so many headaches, trust me.

So in short, project is alive. Going slowly because of academics, but alive.

A better way to check would be to send E007 a PM.

Sorry for the bumping, I only wished to know if this was still alive after a lot of time without posts. I mean, 5 months without posting? It would be stupid if I did not ask around if this great mod was still going to be made, but you're probably right about the PM thing.
