Well, as brought up by Jmac in my blogs, whom says youtube is bad... This is something I find debatable... Who else shares this veiw? Who disagrees with this veiw? Why? I can understand myspace being crap, but... Youtube? So what exactly is the good and the bad about Youtube? I, for one, enjoy it, being able to use it as a source of education and entertainment.

IMHO, Youtube isn't that bad. There's a goodly portioned amount of people who actually make good videos. I've learned much in the realms of science from watching the videos of those who take the time to educate others. I also enjoy all the comedy and music. Sure, there's tons of crap on it, but there are a lot of videos that are worth watching.

What about you? What's your veiw on this popular website?

Well, as brought up by Jmac and EW in my blogs, they say youtube is bad...

We're going to have to smite you.

As well as entertaining, YouTube can be pretty useful.

And yes, MySpace is crap.

I don't usually say things like that in a mean way if the person is on my friends list :xp:

Myspace is crap. Facebook is actually worse. Youtube used to be great, but has degraded to an extent. Still a good place to find videos.

The only thing that's worrying about Youtube is that it's getting easier than ever to be embarrassed on a national scale. All you need is a few too many drinks one night and a jackass with a digital video camera and an internet connection.

Well, certainly I'm not one of those who is an idiot. (Please Pardon the boast of saying so about myself.) Do all people who use it 'suck'? A lot of people on it are complete idiots, I agree; but the people on it who aren't total morons shouldn't be thrown in the mix with them... Saying so is using the Association Fallacy. I honestly think that it's worth it for there to be idiots on youtube, if it means that at least 'some' people can actually post something useful/entertaining on it.

(Edit: As long as the idiots don't flag it for it conflicting with their veiws... Mean comments and low ratings can be ignored and tolerated. Inapropriately flagging something is annoying. There should be a rule that if a staff member finds you inappropriately flagging soemthing, you can get a warning/get banned.)

ohh I agree. I'm probably on there somewhere, with the amount of saddos that decided to take videos of me in high school. And happy slapping used to be, if it still isn't, posted everywhere, even youtube.

I hate those people. :¬:

This sir is the Seriousism Fallacy.

Arc - do you every think you may be taking life a little too seriously, your a teenager, shouldn't you be out chasing girls, playing sport and doing teen angst like things? :xp: Your teen years are the best of your life, thinking is important, but don't forget to have fun!

Also, never take a jmac post seriously ;)

without youtube, where would the idiots of the world go to try and debate political issues that are completely unrelated to the video being commented on.

lool... Eh, life is a serious thing... I'll have fun once I get the money to start getting some of those cool gadgets... Although I'm not to spoil my own life in a 'pursuit of happiness'... well, I'll make sure to never take Jmac seriously again.. It's sometimes hard to differentiate sarcasm from bluntness...

Ever heard the expression the best things in life are free?

Besides if your going along the thinking lines; "He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have". - Socrates

Arc, your a teenager, go and do teen things - you'll regret not doing so later in life.

This is the world's most common mistake, the quicker you realize this the better things will be.

Arcesious--go make your own fun, and it doesn't have to cost a dime. If you wait until you 'have enough money for x gadget' you'll never be happy. You'll quickly discover that things don't make you happy. It's the great people around you and the activities you enjoy that make life fun. Life is also way, way too short to delay enjoying it. Suck the marrow out of life.

Lol, indeed... But I thought this thread was about youtube... Well youtube can suck the marrow out of life too.

I enjoy youtube, although I only watch what I want and ignore the rest. My only gripe is the comment section and why certain words are allowed even for a Disney video.

I kind of like how the first amendment isn't restricted on youtube. (Besides when people flag videos due to conflicting beleifs)

But it's much funnier, IMO, when words aren't censored in comedic videos...

Darth_Yuthura

I'm for Youtube because it allows for almost anything and everything that people would want to see that's not on TV or really anything. If it's good, people will watch. If not... it'll clutter things, but be manageble.

I kind of like how the first amendment isn't restricted on youtube. (Besides when people flag videos due to conflicting beleifs)I am all for The First Amendment, but the use of a vulgar word for procreation in the remakes for the video “When I Wish Upon a Star” is a little inappropriate. IMO.

However, if it is a Richard Pryor, George Carlin or Eddie Murphy video then the use of such language is more appropriate.

Arcesious

Well you don't have to be a celebrity to use the advantages of the first amendment in a comedic way...

Well you don't have to be a celebrity to use the advantages of the first amendment in a comedic way...

Sorry, I was not being clear and as such, you have misinterpreted what I was saying. It is acceptable to use certain language in the comments section when the video is dealing with adult material. It is not appropriate to use that same language in the comments section of videos aimed more towards children. Good manners IMO supersede even the First Amendment.

I am not a prude and I use completely inappropriate language much more than I should. In July, I gave $376.00 to the March of Dimes from the proceeds in my cuss jar at work from the last 6 months (.50 regular cuss words and $1.00 for the vulgar term meaning to procreate). I do not cuss in front of children. If they want to learn that type of language, they can learn it from their parents as I did.

Youtube is good, but I hate everything run by the Gazi's (Google Nazi's).

The original owners shouldn't have sold out to Google.

Youtube is where I go when I feel like a stupid jerk, reading the comments section can do wonders for ones self esteem:D

Arc: You are hereby commanded to try your luck with a girl, no later than a month from now on. Should your luck fail, you are obliged to try it with another girl until my comment on your blog makes sence to you. Failure to do so will be punished by, errr, just get it done:D

Youtube is where I go to listen to music that you can't find anywhere else on the net, and watch anime that isn't out in England. :^:
It's all good. If Youtube was taken from me, I'd die...

...Okay, maybe not die, but I'd suffer. Yep.

I find Youtube to be a great place to go when exhausted for ideas and bored out of my mind. Though I dislike how seriously people take the videos, especially when they believe everything they see. The commentors on youtube are pathetic ghouls who will never leave their parent's basement and force themselves to never see the light of day.

The only reason why I still go to Youtube is...

1. To watch Machinima/Fan Films that are uploaded.

2. To watch educational videos teaching you on how to use a editing software (Photoshop for example)

And number 3..

To watch Shems awesome KOTOR Videos. :)

I do ignore the comments on the videos though. Seeing how most of it is crap.

Speaking of which, I can't remember who owns youtube?

Youtube is like the internet on a smaller scale. There's lots of stuff on it. Good and bad stuff.
