The thought of people flying around in cars in the future scares me. It's bad enough on the roads, without half of these maniacs in the air. :/

yes, but due to the 3D nature of flight there will be so much less traffic to contend with :)

Recovering from accidents will be one a hell of a bitch, though.

MrWally

I doubt they'd allow it on the streets, though. You'd probably still have to take off and land at airports, which defeats the purpose.

I should re-watch the Back to the Future movies.

I'm daunted. I've still yet to learn how to drive on land, much less in the air.

MrWally
03-19-2009, 07:00 PM
I've actually wondered about that. I'm sure that when cars were becoming more and more popular there was great opposition--people probably thought it was unrealistic, incredibly dangerous, and too difficult to be used on a mass level, yet clearly the transition worked out in the end.

Maybe I'm wrong, though.

Hmm, I'm gonna put my money on the Moller Skycar. Simply because I heard of it years ago, and it seems to be making a name for itself. You don't need a runway, and it basically flies itself.

I guess any flying car would be nice though. Plus I don't know how well I trust computers flying me around everywhere...

Aw HELL yeah! THAT would kick ass!
This tread is FULL OFEPIC WIN!

I'd love it! Back to the future, HERE WE COME! Pretty soon we'll also have speeders and stuff like in the SW movies, too!

Could I kill myself on it? Yeah, but what is life without a little excitement? Danger and threat of death. Kind of turns me on actually. A certain high.

Groovy, You rule, baby!

Flying cars aren't going to catch on as they're not affordable enough, and the general public is too retarded to be able to fly them.

MrWally
04-07-2009, 04:22 PM
I'm pretty sure they said the same thing about regular cars.

Samnmax221
04-07-2009, 04:59 PM
People "are" almost too stupid to drive regular cars. They don't drive for the conditions, and they're completely oblivious to the world around them. I'm sure you can remember the last time someone was texting while driving, plowed into a cement wall, and turned the car into a bowl of scrambled teenagers.

Flying is more complex than driving, like driving you can only dumb it down so much, and for most people its simply not enough. As it is I'm scared enough that teenage girls are allowed to have cars, I don't want to have be afraid that some dumb bitch is going to dive-bomb me when I least expect it, because she was too busy whoring up her face to pay attention to what she was doing.

We're witty, sure, but I wouldn't call us "decent people." MrWally eats fresh babies in order to maintain his unnatural level of talent; Dath is the perpetrator behind every murder ever committed; and I bitterly deride and establish cruel lies about everyone here in order to inflate my own pathetic ego.

Least you have a sense of humor about it.

Anywho. As one who is right on the verge of hitting the major drop in insurance rates for making it to 25 and having a flawless driving record, I see nothing wrong with letting rigorously responsible people do it.

Still, I have no response on how to successfully survive a crash with only scratches. Ehh, maybe it'll serve as a grim reminder to others not to be a jackoff while driving. Police records would be the least of your problems.

Samnmax, I do tend to agree with you for most of the population as well as the relative shift from driving and flying.

Still, flying delorians are a worthy nerd dream.

On topic: Here's a hover car: http://blog.wired.com/cars/2009/03/audi-shark-conc.html

(Note: it probably doesn't hover. In fact, it probably doesn't even exist in real life.)

Though I may have my political leanings (which I suspect may be different from yours in several respects), above all I am a realistic reasonable guy. Politics muddys the waters often times. I do try to have good reasons for why I believe and or vote certain ways in issues. Besides, I rather suspect most differences are that of experience.

....HAH! You're telling me?! A guy who has 5 years of TV production and broadcast experience under his belt? Most people in media stink, regardless of their affiliations. There is GOOD reason I turned away form it.

Not to mention when you claw your way up only to have it stolen from you by a rich kiss-ass. ...uhm, yeah.

Besides, I watched as fellow students of mine graduated high school, and got turned into drug addicts at their time in film school.

Go for a long drive anywhere... Count the number of cars on the side of the road.... now imagine that person in the air....

NOW... add to that the blue-hairs.

Then add the guys that just flat out forget to fill their gas tank

Then add the number of people that run around town with a "Check Engine" light on for months.

What's your engine's NORMAL temp?
What's your engine's NORMAL Oil Pressure?
What's your engine's NORMAL RPM range?
When was the last time you replaced your engine's belts? Was it because one of them broke?
When was the last time you CHECKED your spark plugs?

Do you trust that guy with the '85 Camaro that has smoke coming out of the tailpipe to do all of that?

And that's the reason we don't have flying cars.

TiE23
04-16-2009, 04:28 AM
Yeah, when your car breaks down, you pull over to the side of the road.

When your airplane breaks down, you better hope you have enough air to ditch and parachute to safety, still breaking your legs and loosing your mass produced $800,000 airplane/car (possibly damaging property or other people as it crashes to the ground).

Oh, you're a mom with three kids in the back? Well... ****. *Boom!*
