Hi.
I was wondering if it would be porting to record ingame footage of KOTOR 1 and turn it into a movie for TSL? What about recording bits of the first game's movies (I don't expect I'm allowed to do this one).

Also, can I record bits of the first game's voice-overs to use in the second game?

Cheers.

Recording yourself playing should be ok, I think.

The other two... No.. :)

So far, no one has come down on Trex for TJM mod. He recorded some scenes from K1 (Taris I believe?) and then binked it as a movie and put it into K2. So you're fine in video-recording. :)

EDIT: Damn, that means I'll need soundalikes for the whole KOTOR1 party. lol.

which demonstrates the inconsistency with approach to this subject.

porting between the two games is no more illegal than any other mod seeing as the IP for both games is owned by the same company.

forum policy dictating discussing porting as a taboo is up to the admins, no probs there, but using the because it's illegal line is a furphy...

However just because the Odyssey engine is owned by Bioware, TSL was made by Obsidian; therefore they are two separate games and regardless of whether the IP is owned by the same company, porting major assets (models etc). is illegal. ;)

And with that correct interjection by GK on the legalities of the issue at hand, and with the OP's question answered, this thread is closed as it has outlived its purpose...
