monkey head on monkey island

I have to put the gubanatorial symbol on the console but Guybrush won't put it on there. What gives? Any help is appreciated!

if you mean I have to use the weed whipper to get the boiler going, I've done that. all I know is when I play with the console, I get the "there are no monkeys in the gamma quadrant". Then when I put the symbol with the console I get "I don't think that would work with that".
