All right, forumites, put your thinking caps on...

If you wanted to intice a dragon into an attack, what do you use?

Flames, traps, loud noises. Most animals are quick to attack if they are afraid, so I'd corner it, scare it with the flames, traps and loud noises and then wait for the attack. Maybe I'd make myself look like I was trying to claim its territory. What I'd do during the attack I'll never know.

What am I saying?! I wouldn't want to provoke a dragon into attacking! That would be stupid.

I'd take a cue from Komad Fortuna and bait it into a minefield.

It's supposed to be a trap, and i don't have access to mines; too technical

What do you have access to? And what exactly are you doing?

It is a sword and sorcery world of my own. If you want a grip on what can be done, read the excerpts from the Gryphonrider series by me.

The dragon is linked to a medallion worn by another. The technical level is helped by having the main character have access to her memory of our world. That means she has developed a cannon of sorts, and explosive rounds equal to about a 100 pound bomb. But of course the cannon is as heavy as a 16th century one so she isn't carrying it in a holster.

What she needs to do is intice the dragon to a specific place where she has found a way to level the playing field.

How about you lure it the same way Komad Fortuna did in KotOR? Bait it with its favorite food. Or if its Dragon mating season, you could entice it with the pheromones of a dragon of the opposite sex.

Well, waving a piece of meat and around and then running away towards a covered pit with spikes might work. Risky, but it might work. If all else fails, have a conversation with the dragon {DragonHeart:D}

Yeah... If the dragon had a conversation with you, it would most definitely attack!
Meat and pheromones would almost definitely work if combined.

Baby dragons or dragon eggs, if said protagonist was feeling particularly suicidal :P

Gold/treasure would also be a good choice if your dragons care about it.

I gotta go with Bee and Devon...the dragon's young, or some sort of treasure important to the dragon.

Perhaps it doesn't even have to be the dragon's young, perhaps it could be the dragon's venerable father or something along those lines that might make the dragon want revenge.

No brainer.

Call it stupid. Moon it. Wave your middle pinkie at it in a naked series of star jumps. Finish with a birdie and rasberry. Walk off with a snub and a whistle. Rinse and repeat.

First time it'll laugh. Second it'll still chuckle and snort.

Third time you'd better have that gun set up and ready.
