Hey well I gimped this picure and made it look a little better the first 1st is the original the 2nd picture is with the mandalorian having a motion blur and the 3rd is the mandaloiran with motion blur and a bigger flash on the lightsaber as the blast hits it:

What do you think?

06-30-2009, 03:13 PM
Looking good Te Dha Werda Mand'alor:D

06-30-2009, 03:13 PM
Looks awesome, you have great talent! Where is the pic from btw? Did you draw it yourself?

Mandalore The Shadow
06-30-2009, 03:17 PM
i wish but it (i think) is ToR concept art it is Darth Malak during the Mandalorian Wars when he was a jedi fighting Rohlan Dyre or Rohlan the Wise

06-30-2009, 03:34 PM
Ahhh. Cool nevertheless. By the way, how did you make the cool flash on the lightsaber? When i also tried to reskin this pic (couldn't resist :P) I used the distant sun light-thingy filter. :P

Mandalore The Shadow
06-30-2009, 05:31 PM
I think i used Flare under light filters and here are some new ones the 1st is the original and the 2nd is the new one:

06-30-2009, 05:38 PM
Sweet! Lightsabers only make Clone Troopers better:D

06-30-2009, 06:08 PM
Looks awesome, you have great talent!
Using a motion blur filter, and adding a lens flare is really simple.

07-01-2009, 09:49 AM
Btw, here's my version of the Mando VS Alek pic: http://i40.tinypic.com/23mq70i.jpg

07-01-2009, 01:06 PM

07-01-2009, 01:14 PM
That is the ani'la ver'vod! But now I'm dissapointed because I was hoping for a new RC video game:p

Mandalore The Shadow
07-01-2009, 01:24 PM

Mandalore The Shadow
07-01-2009, 02:10 PM
can you get rid of the backround and tell me what tool in gimp you use to do it?

07-01-2009, 02:10 PM
Here it is:
Its still not finished, but its almost done.

@the Dark Mand'alor:
I just use the erase tool.

Mandalore The Shadow
07-01-2009, 02:11 PM
Nice work *jaw drops and then bounces back up* so can you remove the Backround?

07-01-2009, 02:12 PM
Yep, I've already started:D

07-01-2009, 02:23 PM
Here you go:
I also upped the image quality a bit.:D

Mandalore The Shadow
07-01-2009, 02:25 PM
thank you Mand'alor im going to go work on a sig and post it so i can get some feedback

Here it is:

its a little blurry im not sure why

07-01-2009, 02:47 PM
Nice! The Nulls are awesome subjects.:golfclap:

Mandalore The Shadow
07-01-2009, 02:55 PM
well how about this:

Their avys

07-01-2009, 03:05 PM
Pretty nice stuff you have there.

07-01-2009, 03:29 PM
After seeing your first post I decided to give a go at the pic. Tell me what you think. :)

07-01-2009, 04:24 PM
@the Dark Mand'alor:
I just use the erase tool.

Doesn't Gimp have something lik a Pen tool, to create a path and use that to cut out your figures or whatever you want.

Its far more faster and preciser then the Eraser tool.

Another tip would be to look for something like a Layer Mask, its called like that in Photoshop, no doubt Gimp must have a similair option.

I see more people found the filters, I'd suggest to take your pictures to higher level and only apply filters on certain parts.

Just using a filter on a picture is 2 seconds of work...
Then again we all have to start somewhere :p

EDIT: To bad I only have Photoshop else I would've offered some help :)

07-01-2009, 10:21 PM
^Yes, yes it does. That's what I do.

Mandalore The Shadow
07-02-2009, 02:34 PM
well ive done another sig just for the heck of it:

07-02-2009, 04:12 PM
The sig pic's are really good! BTW I'm gonna make a sig for myself, and I was wondering how to make something face the other way. I need some Hammerheads for it. Here's what I've got so far: http://i40.tinypic.com/x208kw.jpg

07-02-2009, 04:14 PM
To face it in the opposite direction, use the layer invert selection. I'm gonna make something as well.
Be right back...

Mandalore The Shadow
07-02-2009, 04:18 PM
well if you are using gimp use the reflect tool here is a pic:

its the tool with the poorly drawn circle on it an thats the sig im working on

07-02-2009, 04:27 PM
Yeah, I did it! :D Now all that's left is to find out how big it's supposed to be to be welcome on the site, and then It's showtime! Here it is, tell me what you think: http://i42.tinypic.com/264018y.jpg

EDIT: Here's one with a smaller frame: http://i39.tinypic.com/2rejqd4.jpg

Mandalore The Shadow
07-02-2009, 04:30 PM
it looks good although i must say that i like longer sigs and would like to be able to see the KotOR logo insted of it being covered up

07-02-2009, 04:31 PM
Nice sig Carsew. Very nice!

Mandalore The Shadow
07-02-2009, 04:33 PM
so mand'alor what do you think about the sig i made and the one im working on. what color should the words be in the new one?

07-02-2009, 04:34 PM
Yeah, it's hard to see it, but I don't want the characters to covered up either. So I did it this way. Here's a longer version: http://i41.tinypic.com/2vv4z8h.jpg

Mandalore The Shadow
07-02-2009, 04:35 PM
ok i like that one better because like i said i like long sigs im picky sorry

07-02-2009, 04:40 PM
Dark Mand'alor: Maybe you could make the words a vibrant blue. I like it:D

Mandalore The Shadow
07-02-2009, 04:42 PM
yes that seems like a good choice ok im off to eat some chinese food

EDIT: here is the sig not as good as the others though but its good enough

07-02-2009, 11:06 PM
Carsew, I'm gonna be honest. I like your sig but it's to big, and doesn't really look that much like a signature.

07-03-2009, 11:38 AM
Too big? Like it won't be allowed? And how do I make it look like a sig?

Mandalore The Shadow
07-03-2009, 06:32 PM
i think it will be allowed you should check the rules but i do agree with the too big one i like it though

07-04-2009, 03:50 AM
Okay guys! Now I've got two sigs that i can use they are this one: http://i40.tinypic.com/fcjq0i.jpg

And this one: http://i42.tinypic.com/2u9hlkp.jpg

If you like them, but thinks that something should be added or changed, please tell me, I'm new to this "Sig business".

07-04-2009, 03:52 AM
You maybe new, but your good at it.:D

07-04-2009, 04:14 AM
Aw, man! Now I won't be able to pick one. But I do have an idea for another sig, using the same layout as this one, except that Revan stands alone in the middle, with Malak on one side, and Bastila on the other. And this quote:

You are all things, Revan. Savior, conquerer, hero, villain. And yet you are nothing.

Mandalore The Shadow
07-04-2009, 09:47 AM
i like the sig idea and the one you already posted Knights Of The dCARSEWu lol

EDIT: Here you go Mand'alor:

Rogue Nine
07-04-2009, 01:27 PM
Please do not use this thread to 'chat' to each other. Use Private Messages or an IM client to do that. This forum is for artwork and serious critique only.

Mandalore The Shadow
07-04-2009, 02:00 PM
can do Rouge Nine well here is the newest sig i made:

07-04-2009, 02:03 PM
Nice! I can just hear a Mandalorian battle cry amid the fog of war!:D

07-05-2009, 08:11 AM
Cool! The Mando that pops his head out from behind the debris looks like he's saying: "Hello guys!". Awesome. :)

Mandalore The Shadow
07-05-2009, 07:59 PM
Well here is my new sig i made it is Ghez Hokan im not sure if the quote is 100% correct though:

07-05-2009, 08:25 PM
:lol:I like that quote! Keep it up!:D

Kyr'am Galaar
07-05-2009, 10:16 PM
So... can I post stuff I've done with GIMP as well?

This is one that i did for my fanfic.

I used GIMP. And I put it together with Paint.

07-06-2009, 02:17 AM
Did you use GIMP to draw the Mando, or is it a reskin? Either way it looks good, only thing I can say is to maybe include a background. Maybe just a long desert or something? Keep it up!

07-06-2009, 02:25 AM
I agree with Carsew, maybe burned into that desert you could have this:

07-06-2009, 04:19 AM
I even think there is some kind of effect in GIMP to make a desert. Unfortunately I can't check it out, cuz I'm leaving for our island, but someone else could check it. See you in a couple of weeks, guys!

Mandalore The Shadow
07-06-2009, 11:29 AM
well payback it looks good but i agree with Carsew and Mand'alor. And Tobias i can do that too

EDIT: here is my horrible space battle:

07-06-2009, 11:49 AM
That looks pretty good! Maybe if you shrunk down the starfighters, and added them in larger numbers it would help. You could also iWarp a Gradient Flare to use as the blaster shots:D

Mandalore The Shadow
07-06-2009, 11:52 AM
well i dont think im gonna redo it im working on a TOR sig and mabey Avy didnt you say you were working on one? post it if you want

07-06-2009, 11:54 AM
Yep, here it is:

Mandalore The Shadow
07-06-2009, 12:01 PM
nice it looks good Mand'alor it looks good im gonna continue mine now

Here are some easy avys and a sig i made:

http://www.lucasforums.com/picture.php?albumid=394&pictureid=3598 http://www.lucasforums.com/picture.php?albumid=394&pictureid=3597

http://www.lucasforums.com/picture.php?albumid=394&pictureid=3596 http://www.lucasforums.com/picture.php?albumid=394&pictureid=3595

the sig needs some cleaning up but other than that i like it

07-06-2009, 01:53 PM
Looking good vod'ika:D

Kyr'am Galaar
07-06-2009, 02:05 PM
The mando i made in this (http://www.zammap.com/mandomaker.html) program.

Mandalore The Shadow
07-06-2009, 02:07 PM
That is sweet im totaly using it from now on thanks for posting a link

EDIT: here is the mando i made in the program it is Xor from my Fic he is suppose to have a lightsaber but i didnt give him one:

07-07-2009, 08:10 PM
That looks sweet! How did you get it to "give" you the mando. I tried but it would only let me color it.

Mandalore The Shadow
07-07-2009, 08:17 PM
i took a screenie and then deleted the backround

07-11-2009, 05:13 PM
Here is something I made:
Its not my best work, but its pretty good.

07-13-2009, 11:53 AM
i think it will be allowed you should check the rules but i do agree with the too big one i like it though

No, it wont be allowed. His sig is 169px high. The maximum in Lucas Forums is 120px.

08-29-2009, 09:27 PM
Very nice stuff you got here.

Is all the stuff here GIMP or are some people using photoshop?

Mandalore The Shadow
08-29-2009, 09:29 PM
I'm not 100% sure everything I'm posting is GIMP but im sot sure about everyone else

08-29-2009, 10:11 PM
Well good job!! I never was able to make anything good with GIMP....That is one of the reasons why I got photoshop.

Here is a sig I made, based on those TOR sigs that are around:

Mandalore The Shadow
08-30-2009, 07:24 AM
Wow that looks really cool did you draw the mandalorian yourself?

08-30-2009, 09:33 AM
No unfourtunaly, it was a watercolor I found that I use for reference when drawing.

Here are two versions of what you did in the first post:

Gentlemen, pick one spot for your art, and one spot only. If we see the same pics in multiple threads, we will assume you are trying to boost your post counts and will delete those posts as spam, along with considering nerfing your post count down to zero. If you have questions for the thread starter such as sig pic rules, PM that person instead of wasting a post. Or, better yet, consult the forum rules for yourself. We have deleted a LOT of spammy posts in several of these art threads. Consider this a warning to all of you not to post spammy posts like "Good job!" or "I like it!" Those aren't helpful. If you're going to post that you like something, put down what it is you like about it for it to be a constructive critique.
DO NOT POST CUSTOM COMMANDOS HERE. Put them in the Custom Commando thread in the Republic Commando forum.

09-10-2009, 06:50 AM
I figured the Mandalorian fans here would like to see something i've been working with to go along with a fiction i've been writing.

Made with the 'Mando Maker', and spruced up in Gimp to remove the 'cartoony' look (it still retains it a little, but it's more acceptable like this). It's nothing special, at least compared to other stuff i've done, but it's always nice to give characters a 'face', as it were.

EDIT: Here's a side by side comparison of the improved Mandalorian next to the original one. I think you'll agree it looks a lot better.
