Hi guys I'm back and I'm reviving the last mod I was working on.
Hopefully Ulmont still wants in.. after all I kinda ditched him half way
sorry about that nervod.
There's a slight change though. The new/old models I have will be replacing ingame models.. blasters, grenades, melee weapons, head gear and what not.

yeah I guess so.. heh heh.. each time I start out small.. it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.. do ya think I should just release the stuff by parts? like a replacement blaster pack followed by a replacement blaster rifle pack.. and so on and so forth?

I'd lean towards releasing it in bundles of items. Not only does it allow for some earlier release dates (Always a plus for this side of the project) but if I liked the blasters, hated everything else and sucked at computers (Not true on any count) I could just d/l the pack and use that....

.............Or you could just explain it in the readme how to do it also.

Nice, job of remodeling real word weapons with added attachments you took a page right out of George Lucas' trick book. May I make a suggestion, though, do you think you could put some shoulder stocks on the rifles to differentiate them from the pistols?

looks like when I got them in game.. I had to resize them and like you said they looked just like blaster pistols.. should have worked off the previous model i used for your Mando mod.. btw how is it coming along? It should be in its final stages of beta testing by now, right?

If you want an idea for a simple stock that blends well with most cylindrical rifles, try looking at the nano rifle from Red Faction: Guerilla.

6 and/or 8 seem to fit the model best. If you're going to do angles, stick with angles throughout. My 2 cents.

Yeah I love that stock design, it's so universally adaptable that it's tough to make it look out of place.

As for what Achilles was saying, he was just referring to the consistency of your design. Most of your base rifle is very angular in both mesh and texture, he's just recommending that you keep the stock consistent with everything else. Having said that, I have to agree with 6&8 being the best from what you've posted.

They can, but GMax sucks at showing what your model really looks like. For example, my Desert Eagle model. 3ds Max showed it's texture as pretty crappy, and all jumbled. But when I rendered, it showed how much detail there really is.

In the end, GMax just isn't a good tool if you want to see what your model really looks like.

No.

Renders have been processed by a renderer (such as the one included with 3dsMax but not gmax :()

There's quite a bit of texture stretching in the screenshots which may or may not show up in the game. Quick way to know would be to render the scene.

Wow... I leave for a day or two and this happens! Very nice looking guns, though I think I prefer the style of stock 9 -I've always been a sucker for those- all of them are good...

I also like the looks of the new blaster rifles, especially the way the plasma projector had that new stock worked in... gave it a nice industrial feel...

Its pretty good, the only thing I can really think of for improvement is add an alpha channel to the helmet. If there is one, I don't notice it.

@ Trigger: uh.. well i kinda had to turn the helmet into a head model..so no shiny-shiny for the helmet i'm afraid :(.. unless someone can suggest another way that doesn't involve replacing an armor type.. i have to go with the ol' disguse routine

On the armour, you might want to move the Republic symbol across so it joins in the middle. At the moment it's bisected. Not sure if that's actually doable on the particular texture set - I haven't looked at them in a while.

Another thing which needs some work is the front of the helmet. At present it's a little too monochrome. Also, the armour could be a bit... grubbier, too. At present it looks rather new, IMO. I'm also not terribly keen on the box on the back, either. It looks rather awkward to carry, given its shape.

Are you certain you can't apply a shader to the helmet since it's a head? If not, I'd say you should certainly consider making it look less monochrome - maybe have it more battered/worn, with perhaps some scrapes of grey metal showing through the yellow paint, for example.

For the front panel of the helmet, you might also be able to get away with darkening the edges and giving the impression of a face underneath, possibly but putting one in and overlaying the top panel with a fairly low transparency, so only a little can be seen.

There's also a bit of a question of practicality. That armour... would stick out quite a lot. That said, so does the default Republic "armour", so that's not much cop as a critique. Overall, the basics of what you have are good, but the execution could do with some tightening up, IMO. I'm quite a harsh critic, so I'd give 6.5/10.

My dad actually has been forcing me to do chores today, so I'll post later on heavy repeater quality, but the screenies look awesome!! okay, It could work for some other light or medium repeaters then.

I like the gun, but I have an opinion on a couple of things.

1) I think the gun is just a tad bit too big. FWIW, I think the default heavy repeaters are too big too :)

2) I don't think the heavy repeaters should have a stock. Just seems counter intuitive.

ago.. :lol:"counter intuitive" = who is going to anchor a heavy repeater against their shoulder to improve accuracy? You don't see them on Gatling guns.

But as you said, it does not matter now.

well if the repeater was supposed to be like a gatling gun i do have to say that its held the wrong way.. not like the ones in the cg series of clone wars. guess i was trying to make it fit in with the current pose, besides I got the idea from a SAW which was basically held in that manner and served as a fireteam's heavy weapon.

Maybe I'll whack in another set of gatling typed models for a newer version of it, that way i can scale down the current MG version to be used for the light repeating blasters rifles that the default mandalore is equipped in when you set of to that palace place thinige

Maybe instead of a stock, you could add some sort of power-pack looking thing on the end?

Bryan why you can't put the helmlet as a hemlet? because the head is too big? xD if it's that there's a solution:you make the helmlet disguise the character into a appearence profile without head, or with a small thing at the place of the head, or you make the armor.

And i'm pretty sure you can put some shyne into the helm even if that's a head model, i have already seen character models with baremetal, theres Full body characters, like malak or the mandalorians, but i'm sure it can be done with a head model, have you try to put a txi?

Very good, I have to say. The only problem I have with the heavy repeater is some clipping with the Pc's left hand through the drum on that side. That, and with some of the rifles, there's clipping with hands, and the pistols seem to be out of place sometimes, just a tad bit forward of perfection. and, all the heavy repeaters I got were the exact same model, so it got a little monotonous. But, other than that, it was okay.
