View Full Version : North Korea: American Detained

Got this from CNN

An American was detained in North Korea for trespassing on the country's border with China, state-run KCNA reported Thursday.

The unidentified individual was detained on Monday, and the incident is under investigation, according to KCNA's report.

Not much more info than that, American Intel likes to keep things quiet.

Methinks he was working for the CIA, and got caught reporting info to the agency. That's my assumption. Comments Anyone?

Anything's possible, but I have my doubts that a trained CIA agent would be impudent enough to try and walk across the border. It was probably just an innocent civilian who North Korea decided to arrest simply because s/he was American.

hmm, Korea is paranoid, maybe it was a media reporter

^^^That was my thought.

Also since Americans are all assumed to be worth a lot of money abroad, it may be scheming and using civil law to try to pinch money.

CIA? Isn't that a bit conspiracy theorist? There are a lot more tourists in China, many of whom can manage to get themselves lost quite easily, than there are CIA agents. It's not like the borders are well marked in many rural areas.

 well, Korea also admitted holding a "second" american along with another being captured on Christmas Eve. Apparently they were travelling "illegally" from China to N. Korea. Wow, blame China, how sad
