View Full Version : can't load kotor
10-06-2011, 09:43 PM
so yeah, my problem began when i first installed the game, i managed to escape taris but the game crashed before i got to dantooine. I found a solution to this online (putting the "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1" in swkotor.ini), but after that it was laggy as hell. After that i deleted all files of the game and re-installed, but now it crashes on the loading screen when i finish creating a new character. Also, the logos and malak's face are upside down when i start the game.
I have a lenovo g550 with windows xp (service pack 3), intel core2 duo, 2GB RAM, and a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
Please, help me!
Try using the game's configuration utility to post your system specs:
Post your system specs
Sometimes we're just not going to be able to help you if we don't know what kind of hardware you have on your machine. If you don't know what you have on your machine, then follow these steps below:
If you're using Vista or Windows 7, go into your game folder, find "launcher.exe" and right-click on it. Select "properties", then "compatibility" and check the box beside "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Then check the box next to "Run this program administrator" and hit "OK". (EDIT by Q)
Bring up the launcher menu for Kotor 1 or 2 (by running "launcher.exe").
Click on "Configure".
Click the "Scan Hardware" button on the lower center of the window.
Click "Yes" to continue.
Click "Details" to view your system specs.
Click "Save Report" and save the file to your desktop.
Whenever you post your problem, open the file you just saved and copy and paste the contents to your post.
You can leave out the keymapping and everything after that.

First, try using that same configuration utility to set the game's resolution to something your computer can handle, like 800x600 or 1024x768.

i already did that. it didn't work
Did you try it from the in-game menu?

First, I would try reinstalling the game again.

already did that, now what?
I meant reinstalling it again. Something weird happened when you reinstalled it the first time (stuff is upside down) and you need to try again.
