Cheats have been in all the JK/DF games thus far and they should be in JKII as well. But what cheats will we see and what cheats do we wanna see! Let's hear some suggestions for cheat names as well!
Here are mine:
CHECKMYGUNS - All weapons
IMWIMPY - Invincibility
STOCKUP - Full inventory
ISUCK - Advance to next level
YODAWANNABE - Prolonged force surge
PEEKABOO - Full map
Here are some unusual ones. Tell me what you think.
MOONWALK - Cuts gravity in half
COMPANION - The first enemy unit you meet after this code is typed becomes your companion that follows you, fights for you and takes a bullet for you, so to speak.
YELLOWBRICKROAD - The path to beating the level is highlighted on the ground.

Granted some are a little silly, but still, be nice, and tell me what you think.

Wasn't yodawannabe used in a past game?

Although I don't really see a reason for cheating in JK/MotS(because the missions were so simplistic/easy, even on the difficult setting), I suppose they should continue in the tradition, by allowing people to use cheat-codes in Jedi Outcast. I do find it humorous that people actually use cheat-codes though. Seems to take the entire point out of playing. If you beat the game using cheats, it's like not accomplishing anything at all.

I would like to see a goldeneye type syste, whereby you get the cheats when you complete the missions in a set time... That makes doing well an incentive so you can replay the game again with a few cheats, like all stormies can use force powers or something...

I like your idea wardz. I admire the Goldeneye system. The number of cheats you have is also kind of a status system. The more cheats you have, the more you can show off. Plus stormies with the force, now that makes the levels a whole lot scarier!

CHOSENONE- Everything but you is in slow-motion...just like the Matrix :-)

GROG- You turn into Guybrush Threepwood!

Slo-mo sounds good, but I think it'f fun if you're in slo-mo as well. Ever played "Perfect Dark" and had slow motion on. PD also has a "smart slo-mo" in which the game is slower than usual, but slows down even more in battles. I would like to see this, but I found the smart mode wasn't all that smart. It was still too slow even when not in battle.

Actually, the only way Jedi Knight is the least bit difficult anymore is to use a cheat code. What you do is the all weapons cheat (red5), drain all your weapons, and use only the lightsaber for the entire game. No other weapons, period. You don't realize how often you snipe until you can't anymore.
So, at least a few cheats would be nice.

Wasn't yodawannabe used in a past game?

No, Jediwannabe 1 is the all jedi powers code in Jedi Knight, So, yodawannabe has never been used. :D

I personaly think you are completely retarded for even wanting cheats.. they take all the fun out of the game if you cant finish it without them you have problems.

Well I think that's a bit of a harsh statement. Imagine this: It's a level you've never been in before. It's huge and you are unsure of how to solve it. The puzzle is beyond you and you are sick of it! This doesn't necessarily apply to everyone and some people just want to advance to the next level but don't want to go through all the trouble of solving the current one. Few options:

1) Cheat Codes
2) Walkthrough
3) Quit & Try again some other time

A plus it's just fun, even if only for a few times to play the easiest levels where you would normally only have cheap guns with bigger guns!

If all the stormies could use the force...i would run the opposite direction.  ;)

since its a quake iii game you wouldnt need the moonwalk cheat, you would just use sv_gravity.

As its the Quake 3 engine the codes will simply be God for God mode. I hope there arnt any cheats though. Games are much more fun that way, and you arnt persuaded to cheat.

Cheating is kind of tight but it's not bad if you've already beaten the game.

I remember I would get infinite ammo and drop as many mines as I thought sufficient on the little monkey thing sitting on the explosive bareels in the first level you get the Concussion Rifle. Then blow him up and he'd go bouncing off the walls. It was very amusing.

I only ever cheat after i've completed the game once. That way, you can try things that werent possible without the cheats, or that you missed the first time around because you didnt have enough life etc

I think cheat codes are to help the game designers. and they can be useful if you're making a level or other things.

Millions o' Monkeys

yes it would help designers etc. but cheats sortof ruin the game a bit.
thats just my opinion of course you are all free to speak your own :D

Sort of.......more like totally. Its no fun with cheats. Without them you get excitement and it adds to the effect of the game as it forces you to out do your potential in order to survive.

I think the yellow brick road idea by iceman would be cool for those rare but annoying jams.

well, i am gonna say that cheating is my thing. i mean, of coarse i try my hardest to beat the game w/out cheats first, but when i get ticked off enough, thats when i turn to the cheats. i would say that cheats should be in outcast.
No, Jediwannabe 1 is the all jedi powers code in Jedi Knight, So, yodawannabe has never been used.

not to be mean or anal retentive here, but jediweannabe 1 was god mode.

anyone ever play Oni? the mirrorworld cheat was one of the coolest I've ever seen.. everything was turned into glass. add slowmo to that, and you have some kickass gameplay. oh, and cheats are nice to go through the game and play it.. sometimes you'll see things you missed, when you're invulnerable, or have a completely different gameplay experience in slowmo.. who knows?

I think the only game I can't beat without cheating is rebel assault 2(one of those horrible space battles) and the first few times playing TPM though now I can beat it without cheating also.

I can beat both JK and MotS without cheating and in hard though!

Cheat codes are a mixed bag - as are in-game saves.

I got DF for Father's day (was around for the orig Doom, etc, but never got DF) and enjoy the challenge of the 'finish the level or try again' feel. However, in JK/MotS it is occasionally nice to play saber-only. For JK, this means cheating to get the saber, and sometimes putting some health back into your bod (i.e. bactame).

However, I prefer not using them - but I think they should be a choice. It is a bit heavy handed to say "anyone who uses a cheat code is a wimp" ... and a slippery slope to condescension.

An analogy was made that more PS2's have been sold in the US alone than there are worldwide hardcore PC gamers - which are the only people really into FPS games. That is at the core of the Obi-wan cancellation, IMO. The more you engage new players, less skilled players, and allow them to see the great fun in playing these games, the more players we will add to our ranks, and the more support we will get.

I remember that game! I got as part of the Lucasarts Archive volume 2. That game was impossible. I could get past the 3rd level where you can to fly the Falcon through rock caverns and not die.

Cheats Makes Hacking easyer but I wish it was at a low lvl Hardly any cheats because I hate Cheat codes Cheat codes lead to hacks and Hacks are Cowardly.

Cheats=Hacks

if they do put cheats in which they will I hope it will only stay in JKII Single player .

So many damn hackers in JK right now ya need a small simple program to boot them or cheat them.... I could go on but iam not.

Agreed ... cheats (and cheaters) have no place in MP games. Do what you want in SP.
