Would anybody here like the game to be like 1 giant level that would take about 21 hours to complete? It could all be in like 1 giant base or something

if you were aiming for humor, you missed.

no, i was aiming towards seeing if people would like one giant level. Have you ever played the JK level Siege on Derra VI? That level is the best non-LEC made level ever, even better than some LEC levels, and takes a long time to beat

A level that takes 21 hours to beat?!?!? How about "no". How long does this mega-level take to load exactly?

Assault takes about 7 hopurs to beat, as estimated by the creator. Many people who have beaten it have taken up to 13 hours. And since JK2 is so tight, you know its going to take a high end computer. That high-end computer could load 1 huge level in a couple of minutes.

Why would you want one big level? Why not play with loads of levels that are still pretty big anyway?

why not play in one giant base? Have you played Siege On Derra VI? That level is long, and it is the best, better than the LEC levels. It had the best detailing and complexity. We need something like that.

Well there is a slight problem which is how would you move to other locations? they've already said that you will going to cloud city and yavin 4. still it might be a good idea to have like a single level for each location though.

I don't know cause I'm not making the game, but if a lot of people like the idea and ask for it we might get somewhere. As for moving, how about some sort of vehicles?

One huge level would be fun......for one level. But for a whole game? A story is what makes a great game (well, sp anyway) and a one level game would have a story equivilant to "Whinny the Pooh visits Piglet" One huge level would be a great thing for one of us to make with the editor, but if you're into the SP part of a game at all one level would be really really boring. Think about it. But, it is a good thing you're brainstorming ideas, though no matter how many people agree with you just remeber that you're not going to change the minds of developers, even this early in the making of the game.

the reason you cant have just one giant level is simple. kyle will probaly have to goto different places to stop what every evil he is fighting this time. and this way to can have different stuff. like nar, or the jedi vally. or that small town (level 4 I think)

half-life was basically one big level and IMHO is the best single player experience for a fps to date in terms of story, action and suspense.

i agree. i was just about to say half life is just one big level with load points inbetween. that worked very well in my opinion. becoz half life is probably one of the best games i have played for a long time (after jk) If jk 2 had something like that it would be brilliant ;)

true!

half-life rules!

anyway... what he wanted cannot be done... its waaaayyy out of reach of the Q3A engine!

true true. hOW can you deny half-life/TF/CS? Greatest SP game in the world other than the DF/JK/MOTS games and mods

Angry Drunken Ewok

but the difference is that hl takes place in ONE huge complex(until you jump into the portal near the end)and jk2 will be all over the SW galaxy and things will be happening in places that kyle isnt(i.e. the cutscenes from jk) so the only way to make jk2 one giant level would to let us fly the ship to the locations that were going to since the level jumps from jk were basically to skip that feature

Edward_Zeth

yeah i talked about that, it would be great to fly about through the levels

I guess HL is kinda like one huge level, so the idea may work with a story after all. But like the Angry drunken ewok said Half life was a huge complex, while SW is more of a many-location type environment. And with the bit of the story that we know of already one level really wouldn't work. so why don't we make it like 15 HUGE LEVELS!!! :)

I would like there to be more than one level, so we could experiance the visuals from different locations. Star Wars environments are great eye candy, and I would hate to see this limited to one level. However, I think there could be 4 major locations and have one seamless type level, for each environment. I'm not a huge fan of small mission based levels( not for this platform anyway), so lengthing advenure based levels with allot of action and story line would be great! :D

I like the way Half Life flowed, but that was only good because it was within a confined space (black Mesa and the Alien World). Gunman Chronicles tried to copy this idea, but the plot jumped around too much as a result. Maybe single levels would be more appropriate for this kind of game. The only way it achieved the effect in EF was because of transporters.
