Me too, a monkey island movie would be terrible - it's obvious that people only want it to happen because they expect the cinematic equivilant of the original monkey island experience. But it would be so screwed up and twisted into little pieces - like haveing leonardo dicaprio as guybrush :barf: so thank god it's not being made

Really, who really knows? Maybe they're thinking about it. Or maybe it is just starting and they don't have enough info to put it anywhere.

they would never do a MI movie, it would be totally financially inconcievable

P.S. - Big words means i'm right

P.S.P.S - It only works for me so even if you sling in big words, i'm right

But it would be an Antidisinstablishmentarianism finacing problem.
So they COULD make a movie.

P.S - That big enough for you Lemonhead? :D

P.P.S - Antidisinstablishmentarianism is a word, I just have know idea what it means.:p

It is true..... Antidisastablishmentarianism is indeed a real word.

Or does it?

I've been thinking of changing my name... Maybe I should change my name too Antidisinstablishmentarianism! Anti for short!

Well personally I wouldn't mind an MI animated movie, competely in MI3's artstyle ofcourse ^_^

There were rumblings about a MI film at the height of it's popularity a few years ago.
The rumour was that Spielberg would direct with Michael J Fox in the title roll of Guybrush, nothing ever came of it though..... shame.
I would personally love to put together a fan film of MI although Scotland is probably not the best place to shoot a film based in the Carribean!!!
Any MI fans out there with a spare Million quid to make the film in a warmer climate, please feel free to contact me!!!!

I think if they make a Monkey Island film, it should be animated in Curse of Monkey Island graphics. It would look far better than using actors, and they could put more outrageous stuff in it.

03-09-2002, 10:54 AM
I think if the movie would ever work it would have to be done very carefully. It would either be very poor or very good and it's more likely the first one.

I'd still go and see it though but it will never happen.

03-09-2002, 11:28 AM
If it was actors, I would hesitate before going to see it, cos I think that would seriously ruin the whole Monkey Island feel.

Freddy, if you think about it though, the close-ups of faces in the first game were very non-cartoonish (Aha! My word of the day "non-cartoonish"!?!). The cartoon element only really took over in CMI.

I envision it as a live action film with lots of CG characters, something similar to 'The Mask'! As many of you mentioned, Jim Carey would have to play Stan (picture him as The Mask but without the green face). Matthew Perry (Chandler from Friends for the three people in the world who don't know!) would have been an ideal Guybrush but he's possibly too old now.
CG characters would be LeChuck (with Denny's voice of course!) & his undead army, the troll, seagull, rat, monkeys, navigators head, hmmm what about the Cannibals.... there's something about the comedy value of having a real person with a huge lemon on their head rather than a CG one.

....Just some thoughts anyway.....

maybe, but if you break it down, it's gramatically incorrect.
here it is broken down.

you see, anti is a negative, and dis is another negative. double negatives are gramatcally incorrect and they both cancell each other out leaving

and if anyone can find the meaning of that, please let me know because i'm too lazy to look it up myself.
