Hmmm... You never met him? ...but you're really cut up about his death... did you know him, though? (i.e. speak to him on the phone or the net?)

Whichever way you look at it, someone's death is always upsetting, especially when it's unexpected, and we all need to grieve in our own way...

It's always best to let the grief run its course, rather than try to surpress it.

PM me if you want to talk more about it - I'm always willing to listen :)

Is this the closest you've had to deal with death in your immediate family or relationships?

Access Flux; A similar situation happend last year when i was in highschool. A girl died in a car accident and I didnt know her directly because she was in 8th grade, but I knew her sister pretty well. I too felt like I should do something; I felt horrible that this girl had died but didnt exactly know her personally, so I felt even worse when everyone was physically upset and I was didnt cry or what not.

I was confused as to what my role was in the whole grieving proccess, so I went to funeral and participated in a road race we had in her name; nothing too dramatic but let the family know that I felt bad by just showing my support.

If I were you, I would definately let them know that you care about what has happened. Most likely the family is gonna depend on their really close family and friends for most of the support, but your support is very important as well.
