Level 1, part 2, room with gas

Hey, I'm in the room with all the gas and the dead officers. I probably missed something simple, but could someone please tell me how to get past that room?

There's a key right next to/on the dead officer. Grab it and get out quickly. Use it on the lock across from that door...

1) Run in the room

2) Grab the key (From the officer near the door)

3) Run out
