Avatars disabled?

Can anyone tell me why the administrators have disabled avatars?

I just dicovered these forums a couple of days ago, and I thought the avatars were cool. I just created my own, and was about to start using it, but the system says I can't. Why?

I beleive you need a set number of posts to get one, but I may be mistaken. I haven't poked around the vBulletin soucre too much. I kinda prefer phpBoard

Avatars and sigs are being disabled to keep the server from overloading. Sometimes they switch them back on...but then there may be a problem...so they have to be switched back off again. Sorry. :(
