View Full Version : Grim trooper
Well, I decided that while shadowtroopers are cool and all, the skin just wasn't "me". So I'm reskinning the model to look metallic and sorta quake(ishly) rusty and generally evil. I figured the shaders out, so there will be pulsating lights and bits of electronics on him once I get him finished. So far, I have a preview of the new helmet done. Any suggestions/comments?
Nearly done with the legs. I need to add some ridges and rivets. I'll add electric sparks to the exposed electronics with a shader later.

hey, that's looking great! I would however turn the brightness up just a tad, since it's kind of dark. Looking great, though. Can't wait to check it out once it's finished.
It looks brighter ingame. If you compare it with the original shadowtrooper helmet that I'm using as a base, you'll notice that brightness is roughly the same

Great work! The sparks should be cool!!!
Any release date on it yet???
When it's done ;]
I actually have the shaders working. I changed the sparks to, well, you'll see. so far, helmet, legs, feet and hands are done. I need to do the torso and arms, which I'm about to start working on now. It'll prolly be done tonight

Send it to me when it's done please!
Make sure its zipped down to 1.0mb.... Its hotmail
It's roughly 2mb, since you need to use TGA files when working with shaders (Jpg files don't have an alpha channel)
I'm not entirely happy with it, but it was a learning experience

hey aiee...do you know any good tutorial sites with tutorials on metal/rust effects? all the ones i've found are hoplessly confusing!
Personally, I texture using the normal paintbrush. I really don't like tutorials and reliance on filters all that much ;]
