EXAMPLE:

I ask: what is 1 + 1

The answers come back as : ancient greeks used math too.

I mean come on! If someone asks a question for crying out loud please answer the question asked and if you dont know then just dont post or say you dont know or something helpful. some people post the most irrelevant answers i swear they've been hit in the head with a gonk droid too many times.

haha thats cute :) . I was expecting answers like that

but seriously, have you ever asked a question about something and they all reply with answers with no relevance to your question so after 20 replies you still have not had your question answered?

darthmark, i wasnt specificly refering to the yavin tril thread, but instead talking about a hellavalot of threads - mostly started by other people - and quite often the answers do not match the question.

i guess the yavin trial post was the one which finally made me rant about it.

its just rather annoying having all those posts to your question yet none of them are of any help.

to b fair yes, i asked about how to create botroutes and ppl started tellin me what they thought of the bots and stuff instead of actually answerin the question

Exactly. It happens to many people so I thought I was rant about it as I wouldnt be the only one who gets annoyed by it.

At least when I post, even if the later part of the post is not on topic, the first thing I talk about IS to answer the question as best I can. And if I can't answer it, then I dont post.

I AM going to answer your question.

You know the "comic-book guy" on the Simpsons? He always has a sarcastic comment about everything people say? Well, they didn't just create his persona from nothing. That guy IS these guys!

Sometimes it is funny stuff they write (just like Comic-Book Guy), but it's always nice if at least 1 person answers your question.

I know how you feel, you just bought a game today, so you ask a newbie question, and some guy who's been playing it for 6 months chimes off with a smart remark. Even though he didn't know how to do it until 3 months in! They can make it hard to believe that there is no such thing as a dumb question.

But hang in there, somebody will help you out. Just remember that you are posting in a board that ANYBODY in the whole world COULD choose to answer. So you're gonna get some wise guys.

thanks beefshank:) im glad more people are out there with the same problems.

and yeap, some people eventually started to help me out, 2 people actually.

There isnt anything wrong with going off-subject, but as long as part of your post has a relevance to the original question asked.

Thats my opinion at least.

In answer to your question...

1. Perhaps some people do not know the specific answer you require, so they post something related.

2. Those who may know the answer, and do not consider the question has any real importance choose to spam instead (as above :rolleyess )

3. People do not have to answer a specific question, although it is common courtesy to do so if you know the answer.

4. Sometimes the question is phrased in such a way as to have an ambiguous meaning, which would lead to multiple answers to cover every eventuality.

5. Some people just can't be bothered.

On the other hand, these are only possibilities. To actually know the answer would be to crawl inside the head of every member of the forums to analyse their thought processes, and post every response, which would result in a thread the size of which I shudder to contemplate.

So, in effect, you have asked an unanswerable question. :D

And this topic belongs in the Swamp. :)

To get the answer to your question:

what is 1 + 1

You must use Calculus.

First you have to set it equal to zero, then take the partial derivative of it all while integrating the square root of e. After you have managed to work through this you must do a u-substition (pre-cal) so that you can use a right triangle to calculate the sine of theta. To finish it off, you must resubstitute all of that into the original equation.

If you do all the algebra right, you end up with:

2.

dude, you would end up with u=2 before you change it back from u-substition. You could at least not be so sloppy...

u=2

Hmmmm
This means lots more work.

After substituting back in, you have to find the limit of the equation:

sin(1/(sqrt(53cos^2(1/sqrt(1-velocity^2/c2))))*2piR^2=123456789

This will allow you to determine the amount of gamma particles given off per second while wrapping the B-string of a 5-string bass guitar around your ankles in the shape of an 8. Using this, you can clearly see that the answer to your question:
what is 1 + 1

Is the amount of chips in a Big Grab bag of Fritos Corn Chips.

Oh ok I see what you got now. You are saying that the answer to 1 + 1, is a variable since the amount of fritos in a big grab can vary widely and can be interpreted differently by just how you count broken chips and the mass of crumbs at the bottom.
