Thats right, who do YOU think would win the battle? The inaccurate Imperial stormtroopers who cant see anything out of that helmet or Hitler's Nazi Stormtroopers? Vote and post some reply if you want.

The Imps would win, only because I think their armor is bullet proof.

:p

I doubt it. Blaster shots have a harder time getting through the officer tunics than the stormtrooper armor, so I can't imagine it's that much harder for bullets.

well since the Empire in the star wars films is in itself a narrative on the Nazi army, this might be interesting. My money would be on the SW storm troopers.

The Nazis.

The Stormrtooper Armour was designed to protect against blasters, not hard ammo projectiles (bullets). I've read it somewhere in one of the guide to Star Wars books.

I still don't understand why there are no old-fashioned bullet guns in Star Wars. They go exponentially faster than those damn blaster shots...

Lasers are a more humane way of killing if you think about it.

I wondered this too. I thought Lasers were suppose to travel at the speed of light, but apparently not. :-\

Right...

Emperor: "Yes! The Death Star is complete! First order of business, blow up Alderaan! And take care of those damn outlaws using guns with bullets, it's barbaric!"

Yes, the sudden and excruciatingly painful incineration of flesh is quite humane.

They do exist. They're called slugthrowers. The reason why blasters are much more popular is with a slugthrower, you have to carry heavy ammunition. With a blaster, you just carry around some blaster clips. A few clips may give you 200 shots with a blaster, but carrying 200 rounds of ammo for a slugthrower would be quite heavy. However, just about anybody can make a slugthrower with a few tools, and they're easier to sneak through scanners since they don't have any technology built into them.

Blasters aren't lasers. Lasers are beams of light, blaster shots are small masses of highly-energized particles, not beams of light. Since they have mass, they don't travel at the speed of light.

If they can make a city hover indefinitely in the clouds, can't they figure out a way to make a pack of ammo seem lighter?

Somebody did their Star Wars homework. :deathstar

Cloud City hovers because it has oodles of repulsorlifts keeping it in the air. It doesn't have anything that makes it lighter, it's just that those repulsorlifts repel against gravity and keep a few bazillion tons of metal from plumetting.

Correct. Have a sort of backpack that hovers behind you with a repulsorlift on the bottom, and a gun that automatically takes ammo from it. Problem solved.

I can see it now.

STAR WARS:

Episode VII: The Fall of Cloud City

Years after the destruction of the Second Death Star...

The New Republic faces an unthinkable tragedy. After a failure in Bespin's large floating city's repulsorlifts, ...

Lando mourns. Han whimpers. Chewie sheds a tear. The Remnant gets their ass whooped. An unforgettable adventure.

Release date. May 2010.

He said MORE humane, and suggested that you think about it, since you didn't want to, I'll do that for you... (just being a smartass...don't take it personally =) ) Which is more humane:

A) Piece of metal bursting through your flesh, and lodging itself into you and causing blood to leak out of you

ooooooor

B)Laser cutting cleanly through your body, presumably cauterizing the wound and not leaving anything behind

*thinks* hrmmmm

The real question was why they would switch over to Lasers and there are a couple of answers to that...One was the aforementioned ability to carry more ammo in less space. Another would be that it seems (at least to me) as though hard shells would be easier to defend against than energy weapons, though I may be wrong there. Lastly...it's the FUTURE of COURSE they'd have laser guns...and laser swords duuuuuuuuuuh (hee hee)

Which would presumably cost more than giving them lasers...(you could argue that we don't really know if it costs less...but if it did wouldn't 'ol miserly Palpy be using THAT instead...*grin*) Hrmmm...do I have anything else to add that has nothing to do with the topic...I guess not. I think Stormtroopers would win because they would use their Star Destroyers' turbolasers to reign green death on the planet and turn Europe to slag...hey, what are YOU complaing about, it ended the war *cough cough* hidden WWII commentaty*cough cough*

You call that HIDDEN, Ian????? No...no I don't. Wait...who's asking this, who's reading this, who cares?
