Help. First time editor and I really suck!

Ok, this is the first time i've edited anything really. I've made my little box room and everything. Its all good. I don't fall out of anthing. There is just one problem: Can't see ****. I add the light entity and it still is completly dark. There must be some simple step I'm missing. Can someone help me out?

what type of bsp did you do on the map?

if you do a novis bsp it should be veiwable although the light will be almost blinding

if you've added lighting, you should be able to do a fullvis on the map to see how it looks with the lighting you added

It is also good to check if your light is actually INSIDE your room :)
