I go there very once and a while. What really freaked me out was what they thought about all the towns named Springfield and that some of them even think that the world is on the back of a giant turtle.

Yes, Australia. And then there are the cryptogeographica, places such as Kadath, Carcosa, Hobbiton, Narnia, Hy-Brasil, Hell and such whose existence has not been satisfactorily proven.
I beg to differ I have proven Hobbiton exsists many a time, it is in middle earth which they declare exsists in the form of the middle point which proves that 5=6 :D

Actually, the turtle thing is an actual portion of numerous mythologies, including African, Chinese, and Japanese myths.
I'm not sure which one Pratchet borrowed from, but I know it wasn't an original.
