View Full Version : Lightmap compile problems

I am getting this error during the light stage of the compile process, its saying "Lightmaps exceed max memory" then stopping the light process. The map isnt that big,
is anyone having problems??

We might need a little more info here....
what compile option are you using?
how are you lighting your map(skybox surfacelight /light entities?)
how much memory do you have in your machince????
just on the off chance try giving the bsp fullvis(lessmem) or bsp fullvis(lowmem) a try first as it sounds like the light compiler is running out of memory(these option force the compiler to use less memory) i havent come across this error before but just from the info you given it seems to be a memory issue....

my machine has 256mb, that shouldnt be an issue, the map isnt THAT big. i am using a skybox and light entities w/ targets. this all shouldnt make a difference, i have made bigger quake maps with more lights, idk

Ah, didn't know you were working with targeted lights. If I am not wrong the Q3 engine makes a difference between targeted lights and normal lights. Try not to point some of them to a certain locations (not sure though).
